We come to SL to visit family every couple of years and have come to this hotel a number of times. It recently changed ownership and we were delighted to find the character of the place unchanged. Bawa’s original design is fully respected with many of the wonderful staff staying on after the change. The food is always great and the staff are top notch. We will always return here when we come.

We had a really great stay in the hotel. It has a nice garden and access to the beach, spacious rooms and good food. The staff is very friendly, especially Sudesh, Promodya and Dasun made our stay unforgettable. Thank you for this nice experience!

We stayed there for three nights. The hotel has a very nice location and a big delicious breakfast buffet! The rooms are very generous and tidy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and thank would recommend the hotel!

We had a great stay here in Thala. We especially enjoyed the pool and the spa. The food was good and the staff friendly. We would come again. Having the opportunity to work out in the gym we also cherished. The location is also good because it‘s close to the airport.

This was my first trip to Sri Lanka and I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and welcoming all the staff are at Thaala Bentota. Everyone is friendly and happy to help with any request. Shout out to Thasmi, Teshan, Pramodhya, Naveen, Saman and Ajith in particular. Before I came, I was worried about what food I would be able to eat, but the food at Thaala Bentota has been exceptional. There's food to cover every taste, curries obviously, but also lovely salads, pasta, a variety of dishes that change every day and a large choice of puddings. The hotel is clean and the housekeeping staff surprise you each day with a different animal towel sculpture. Two lovely pools, that are clean and very warm, plenty of sunbeds with towels on demand. Pool table. Spa. The hotel is situated right on the beach, so you can hear the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean, which is also surprisingly warm and clear. You can change money at the hotel and they accept visa. The plug sockets are the same as in the UK, so you don't need an adaptor. Overall, a great first experience of Sri Lanka.
