I had an absolutely terrible experience at this MEININGER Hotel location. Upon checking into my room, I discovered THREE bugs crawling around - one of which I identified as a tick, which is a serious health concern as ticks can carry diseases. I immediately reported this disgusting situation to the hotel staff through multiple channels - I spoke to them in person at the front desk, sent an email, and called the hotel directly. Despite my urgent communications about this unsanitary condition, the staff response was frustratingly slow and inadequate. What makes this situation even worse is that the hotel offered ZERO compensation for this completely unacceptable experience. Not a room discount, not a refund, not even an apology - absolutely nothing. I was forced to pay full price for a room infested with bugs, including a disease-carrying tick. Finding bugs, especially ticks, in a hotel room is a serious health hazard that requires immediate action and proper customer service. Instead, I received slow responses and was essentially told to deal with it while still paying full price for an unsanitary room. The complete lack of basic cleanliness standards combined with their refusal to provide any compensation whatsoever shows total disregard for guest safety and satisfaction. This is unacceptable business practice. Save your money and book elsewhere - you deserve a clean, bug-free room and a hotel that actually cares about its customers when serious problems arise.

Honestly this place had everything to be great. But we weren’t notified that public places were under construction when booked. That’s a pity but ok. Plugs in our room don’t work, there’s only two available in a room of four and we have to fight over them. Also, there’s no proper ventilation in the rooms. It seems like the A/C has been broken for over a month, you can’t open windows and not even a fan was provided. As it is under construction, the kitchen is not available and when I asked for hot water, it was declined rudely by Elena at the reception (despite being told on the day of the check-in that we could have whenever we wanted). She has been rude in multiple occasions and completely ruined the experience.

8 man room was way too small while the 4 man room was just as big with a bathroom twice as small. Very unfair and not fair. The Lobby was pretty cool to chill in and the breakfast also tasted pretty good. The hotel is in the middel of Berlin which makes reaching tourist attractions easy. Overall I liked the hotel except for the rooms, if you are 4 people you will really enjoy this hotel though.

We arrived very early on check-in date (arriving with nightrain) and we understand the occupation rate unfortunately didn't allow a check-in immediately. As soon as the room has been ready and cleaned, the receptionist kindly let us know and we could check-in at midday. I didn't understand why we suddenly had to pay an early check-in fee EUR 15,00..., the room was anyway available now. Would Meininger let the room unoccupied if we wouldn't pay the early check-in fee? Previously to our stay I asked via mail Meininger about possibilities for a early check-in. It was told it is upon availability and no-one told about a fee! The Bounce service to store the luggages is totally overpriced and doesn't match to the price segment of Meininger. For a large family (6 persons with 4 Kids) travelling on budget ist such a service not affordable and nearly an insult. The lockers from the main train station are definitely cheaper. The room was comfortable and clean at first glance. After a deeper check, the sinks in toilet and bathroom had both a thick layer of dirt around the hole! We missed a guest kitchen. The best asset from Meininger/Oranienburger Str. ist the central location, very near to many public transport possibilities, restaurants... The nightly rate for a 6 persons room is actually too high for a youth hostel.

The hotel is very basic but we’re realists and expected that. We stayed for 2 nights and on our first morning we made a very basic request to match the hotels very basic amenities. ‘Please could you fill up the shower gel in the shower, as it’s empty’ Lo and behold, morning 2 comes after 2 heavy nights out in the German capital I’m longing for our newly filled shower gel to touch my withered skin yet it’s still empty. So upon check out I made the point that during our stay we didn’t ask for much, just for some shower gel and even that seemed well beyond the receptionists capabilities. They began to blame the cleaners so I asked for the manager and explained that the buck stops with you, stop blaming your colleagues. The staff sarcastically offered to fill it up now, as I’m at reception and leaving to which then really angered me. Finally, I was told 2% off our bill will be deducted as a gesture of goodwill to which I said no - as we’d been arguing for 5 minutes they should’ve perhaps started with an offer and a sorry. All in all, a bed and a pillow. Don’t expect anything from the staff.

We spent 2 nights here and overall had a pleasant experience. The location was perfect, with the metro station quite literally on the doorstep of the hotel. The room was basic, but was clean and it did the job perfectly. The air con worked which was a big bonus, given we weren’t expecting it to be high twenties in May! The reception team couldn’t do more to help us, giving advice and recommending us having one of the city tour cards. I cannot comment on the breakfast as I forgot to add it onto our booking, but heard it was reasonably priced and adequate. For the price we paid, considering it was in the best location for Berlin, it was definitely worth the money! Especially as we managed to sleep well, the rooms were quiet and well insulated - don’t expect absolutely luxury, but just a comfortable bed, plenty of power sockets, good air con/heating and a very good shower. We agreed that we’d use this hotel again in future, should we decide to return to Berlin!

It takes only a few minutes from central railway station to get to Menninger Hotel by tram. Also it is within walking distance to main tourist attractions in Berlin. We booked 6-bed room for 5 people. The room is spacious with 2 sets of bund bed and 2 ceiling high beds which is fun yet provided that you are not height phobia. It is an extra merit that the toilet is separated from the bathroom for a family stay.

This is a very nice hotel for the price point. It is in a perfect location to get to the heart of Berlin. The subway stop is right outside the door. The service was great and the breakfast was decent.
