At first glance when approaching the building from the outside we were hesitant about our choice of hotel as the outside of the building, which is a very old structure, requires a lot of maintenance but once inside our impression changed. We arrived at around 15h00 and were met at reception by a very friendly and helpful gentleman. Our room was ready so we were immediately able to check in and made our way up to our room which was on the 4th floor. The lift was unfortunately out of service for the entire week that we were resident at the hotel necessitating us trudging up and down stairs for the duration of our stay but at the end of the day it was not a big issue except on our day of arrival and then again on departure as we had heavy bags that needed to be lugged up and down. Our room was large, probably 35 m2 in size with a very high ceiling (probably 3 m high) and had two large opening windows facing onto a side road but due to double glazing was extremely quiet indeed. As you entered the room, the left hand wall was flanked by a double door cupboard which also contained the safe, a couple of shelves and some hanging space. Next to the closed section of the cupboard was another open hanging space section followed by a wide desk area and then a raised section that the TV stood on. Below the TV was a cupboard that was obviously designed for a fridge but, unfortunately, no fridge was installed which was a pity as the room got hot during the course of the day and upon returning in the afternoon a cold glass of liquid would have been most welcome. On the right as you walk in the door was the large modern bathroom which consisted of a toilet, basin and good shower. In the basin liquid soap was supplied and in the shower there was liquid body wash. The bedroom contained two comfortable three quarter beds pushed together with four comfortable pillows and each side of the bed had its own duvet which seems to be common in Europe. Apart from the main bed, the room consisted of two comfortable chairs a stool for the desk and another handy table. A long room wide headboard incorporating the light switches and the bedside lights was at the head of the beds. The room and bathroom where generally well maintained but as mentioned previously the hotel is situated in an old building and hence the high ceilings and wooden floors (except in the bathroom). The window frames are wooden and, in our room, faced the sun so the wood was dry and required a little TLC. The room and bathroom where generally well maintained so no issues there. A coffee / tea station is offered in the room and two complimentary bottles of water were provided in the room upon our arrival. This bottled water is only offered upon your arrival thereafter you would need to purchase your own and take it to your room. There is no coin laundry room in the hotel but there is a laundry service if so desired. The hotel WIFI was good and I managed to stream whatever I wanted without issue
