American Inn of Bethesda

Elevator was broken. No wifi service. Room was smelling of smoke. The temperature regulator was broken.

Great staff along with a nice comfortable room in an excellent location close to just about everything.

Hotel doesn’t have parking. Service is awful. No breakfast only snacks.

Lobby is small and nothing special, and parking is problematic, with a few tight spaces most drivers have to back into. If they run out spaces, you have park in a nearby public lot. But the rooms themselves are excellent, clean and well-furnished, and it's located a short walk from some of the city's best restaurants, so overall this is a terrific bargain in the heart of downtown Bethesda.

Patricia at the front desk is the only thing I would give a thumbs up. The facility is a dump. Wall paper coming off the wall. Baseboards coming off, AC is a joke, elevator not working, TV was not properly working had to ask Patricia for help she went out of her way to fix the problem. You get what you pay for. Stayed one night. Reserve only as last resort.

The elevator was broken, so I had to walk to the 4th floor. The hot water was nonexistent. The hotel was ok, definitely get what you pay for.

The room was not very clean - hair on the towels, matches on the dresser. The tops of all surfaces were not clean.

This is a family-run business in the heart of Bethesda. Not fancy but run by a nice bunch of folks. Easy access to the NIH by shuttle. Close to two grocery stores and lots of restaurants.

I would like to request a refund (a full refund would be ideal). I did not sleep in the mattress (feared there were bed bugs). Last night the electricity was out in the entire hotel. If I could give this Inn a negative score, I would.
