Our flight was supposed to land in New Haven CT the day after Christmas, but was diverted to Allentown due to weather. In a rush, I looked up a Holiday Inn, and booked it through *******. I learned right after booking that the Holiday Inn was 20 minutes from the airport, and I was able to find a Holiday Inn 5 minutes away. After a long and exhausting day of very bad travel, I tried to contact the Holiday Inn on Cherry Lane for a refund, and confirmed that we booked with another Holiday Inn, closer to the airport. We needed to be close to the airport in case they gave us a flight the next morning to New Haven (which they didn't). The airline basically stranded us 4 hours from our final destination, and while that's not Holiday Inn's fault, you think the hotel that I booked too far away would understand and refund our booking, especially since we ended up staying at another Holiday Inn, but closer to the airport. Through *******, this Holiday Inn has refused to refund me my money, even though I tried to cancel the reservation just 20 minutes after it was made.

When we checked in, we were assigned a room that faced the interstate yet after an inquiry about overnight noise, the staff member kindly offered (and without prompting) to change our room assignment to the other side of the building. Attentive and proactive customer service!

Easy check-in
Lobby was clean, room was clean and beds comfortable. Room was a bit noisy from traffic outside. Breakfast area was not clean, out of a lot of items. It was 8:00 so there was still plenty of time for people to come. Only saw young lady once as she replenished forks, spoons, plates but never the food. Another couple had to ask her to clean a table and she did just that- cleaned one table. Good place to stay but may need to pay to eat somewhere else.

Well, first of all the front desk person who I checked in with was amazing the Night shift one was also great. The 2 issues I had were the communication between shifts about my late checkout was never communicated so I was disrupted during my stay because they didn't know I set that up. The other thing was the breakfast. I was told that breakfast was until 10 am so I went to the breakfast area around 9:30 am and there was no hot food out at all. An employee stated she's cleaning up already and walked away. The only thing that was available were 2 bagels, 6 slices of bread, a little bit of cereal in the dispensers, and yogurt. I couldn't eat the yogurt or have cereal because I'm lactose intolerant. That wasn't the biggest issue. The thing that bothered me the most was when 2 other guest came down to eat also I heard who I believe is the supervisor of that department say to someone in the back "Did you throw out the food already" and a lady responded "Yes!" and the gentleman replied with "Oh, well I guess no one else is eating" with a chuckling voice.

Great place, friendly and helpful staff, and the room was fantastic! I booked here based on the positive reviews, reasonable rates and close proximity to the Wind Creek Event Center(5 minutes down the road). I'll definitely be staying here again!!!

The room was nice and clean.
The staff did their job but not very friendly.
Breakfast buffet was terrible. The eggs were cold, the sausage was cold and dried up. Very bad.
