Planned as a 50th surprise for my wife who has had this on her bucket list for many years. In the end I had to tell her what we were doing but that just increased the excitement and expectation, and it lived up to it. The hotel is quite small but that means you get quite a homely feel with you fellow guests. With only 26 acres you are constantly bumping into each other. Some had embraced the experience and dressed up but to eat in the main ballroom you have to do black tie. It’s quite special. The building itself is quite quiet tierd but its original so it adds to the charm and you start to imagine all the famous people who have stayed and seen what you are seeing. We stayed in Eddystone, a beautiful suite with its own lounge and large balcony with the most amazing views, helped by the weather. Lastly, the staff who are all incredible and friendly. From Robin who picked us up, Simon who greeted us, Izzy who got our drinks and Andre who looked after us in the restaurant and made us feel so welcome but they were all great and seems wrong to pick people out so sorry to those I did not mention. We even chatted with the gardener for half an hour. It is quite expensive but not too OTT and it keeps it’s exclusivity, which it needs to be special. Thanks again everyone, we will be back
