This newly refurbished hotel is a gem. It’s not in a great part of town but a few min walk from bullring/stations. Afternoon Tea was delicious & fresh. Loads of options. Staff were extremely good and attentive. Really friendly. Definitely recommend.

Booked in April a one night stay in August for the Commonwealth games for which I received a confirmation email. The booking was made direct on the hotel's website not via a 3rd party agent. Received an email on Wednesday 15th June saying the hotel closed down in Jan 2022. The glossy website is still up looking the same as it ever did however a note on the homepage says it's now a temporary housing accommodation. Why was my booking accepted in April 2022 if it closed in Jan? Now have no choice but to find alternative accommodation at vastly inflated prices or make the 400 mile round trip in a day. Disgraceful, if it ever reopens to the public do yourself a favour and avoid.

Like a few others, I booked this hotel last October for two nights to go to the Commonwealth Games this July (the price was very reasonable). Everything was confirmed but yesterday I received an email from *********** stating that the hotel could no longer welcome me and that the booking had been cancelled…no explanation, nothing! I went on to the *********** website to see if I could book again and it said ‘hotel fully booked’ so I emailed the hotel stating my disappointment and disgust that my booking had been cancelled when in fact it was obvious that they had probably resold the room at an inflated price because of the Games. I had a reply today to say that the hotel had closed in January ‘22 and that they had informed *********** to cancel all their bookings immediately. If you go on the Ladbroke Hotel site, or ***********, it certainly doesn’t say anything about the hotel being closed. Needless to say I’ve had to book with another hotel for twice the price! Shame on you Ladbrokes, you knew the games were being held this year so you should have planned accordingly!!

I made a booking at this hotel via *********** last December for Commonwealth Games however today saw they'd cancelled that booking without providing a reason. Given I don't have a car and everything else in centre is booked up or charging several hundred pounds a night then looks like I won't be able to go to Games after all. Very classy service.

I had booked a stay for this July back in September last year. This week, without any communication, they cancelled my booking, I have called them several times to try and speak to a manager, who is conveniently never there. I am always told to call back as no one else is able to explain the situation. I have been told by "the receptionist" that my booking was cancelled as they are no longer a hotel. However, when I tell them I am still able to go on to their website (Ladbrooke HOTEL) I can book a room for the exact dates of my stay - just a seriously inflated price. The lies being told are outrageous. They clearly do not care about or value their customers. Please do not give this business your hard earned money.

The worst afternoon tea I've ever experienced. To start with we were kept waiting for over half an hour and after initially being told the chef was running late, he then decided not to turn up at all. So the woman who was cleaning the hotel when we arrived ran out to the shops and served us soggy pre-made sandwiches along with Mr Kipling cakes. Nothing was fresh, sandwiches were overloaded with mayo and worst of all there were no scones! We were offered a cup of tea while we were waiting to be seated but all they had was English Breakfast, no herbal tea or any other variation so I didn't have a hot drink at all. Then at the table once we were finally seated they didn't even bother to bring over a pot of tea. We had a bottle of Prosecco which had been bought from the Co-op. We couldn't eat the food, it was disgusting. We had vouchers from a third party and will be requesting a refund. Avoid this place, dreadful experience.

I booked the afternoon tea over the phone 2 weeks before the set date. I arrived and was told there were no afternoon tea bookings arranged for that particular day. The receptionist who barely spoke english and was not professional at all was adamant that no booking had been made. In the end I found the booking noted on a flimsy piece of paper in the hotel's 'calendar'. She didn't even apologise for the error on her behalf! Another member of staff then came over and said 'there's stuff in the freezer, we can serve them that'. I was disappointed that they had openly mentioned this in front of me & thought it was okay to serve freezer food as part of an afternoon tea. We were offered no drinks and no one came to ask us how we were enjoying the afternoon tea. The staffs' children were running around screaming. We barely ate anything and honestly were extremely unimpressed as soon as we stepped into the hotel. Don't waste your money coming here. Tacky, unprofessional and disappointing.

Worst afternoon tea. Nothing was fresh and as if everything was store bought. The staff were polite but we were served for tea/coffee only once and when we tried to look for the staffs, no one was around. We had to wait for a long time until someone came back. Definitely not worth the money.

The hotel is in a very run down area but was surprisingly quite nice inside. The staff were polite and attentive, however the afternoon tea was very poor. As you would expect from any good afternoon tea the menu advises that you will receive fresh cakes and macaroons along with scones, cream and preserves but unfortunately these did not materialise. Rather than delicate finger sandwiches the ones we received were cut into large triangles and messily made with lots of butter round the edges. The cakes were worse than something you would find at a Chinese buffet restaurant. Clearly from a frozen selection, sickly sweet and couldn’t tell what any of them were supposed to be. The only saving grace was the slice of carrot cake which although was obviously shop bought it was at least reasonably tasty. No macaroons, and when I enquired about our scones I was told they had run out (despite me having booked more than 2 weeks prior). Very disappointing as these are an essential part of the afternoon tea experience which we had been looking forward to.
