The cleanliness of the hotel room was well below the standard I expect from a Premier Inn. The bathroom sink had visible food residue stuck to the plug and inside the drain. The handwash dispenser had dark residue under the spout and inside the wall fitting. The carpet had multiple stains and some hand towels contained orange stain marks. Premier Inns own CleanProtect hygiene guarantee states that rooms may take a little longer than usual to get ready and that they are working as fast as they can. As we did not arrive until 1am the hotel had ample time, considering check in is available from 3pm, to ensure the room met those hygiene standards yet it clearly did not. The food in the plug hole was clearly vomit remains which was lovely. There were also maintenance issues. The hairdryer was plugged into the left socket but did not work until I moved it to the right socket. I could not move it any further as the wire was fixed to the wall, presumably to avoid it being stolen. A screw on the top left of the socket unit was loose which may have been the cause. Additionally there was no plug socket near the bed which is essential for anyone travelling with a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. We had a short extension lead with us but this created a significant trip hazard across the room and I had to cover the wire with a towel to reduce the risk. Throughout the night an intermittent hum and water dripping noise from the air conditioning woke both my son and me several times. Unfortunately it was too warm to turn it off. The main bed was not the usual Premier Inn standard we are familiar with as normally they are very comfortable. The third and fourth beds were extremely hard and we ended up nearly all sleeping in the one bed. We were also only provided with two spare pillows in the sealed bag meaning we had to use towels, some of which were wet, as additional pillows. As we arrived at 1am there was little point in trying to resolve this with staff overnight. I had to fill the sink plug hole with shampoo I had with me. I raised the issues with the only staff member I could find on check out who was hoovering the dining room. The buzzer by the desk was not being answered after several attempts. Breakfast was also below the standard you state in your advertising. Your menu states that the Unlimited Cooked option includes unlimited cooked and continental breakfast and unlimited drinks. The coffee took quite a while to dispense but tasted fine. We drank it while waiting for cooked items to arrive. Eggs were advertised as scrambled, fried, poached or boiled but only scrambled were available which none of us like. I asked if the eggs were British due to the recent salmonella advice, which was confirmed as a yes (I think I believed her), but no fried, poached or boiled eggs arrived. Hash browns required a wait of around five minutes in the queue after our children had theirs as there were not enough available at one time. Back bacon rashers were ready after
