Holiday Inn Johannesburg Airport

I stayed I the holiday inn Johannesburg for about 5 weeks for business, the rooms were comfortable and quiet considering the amount of air traffic overhead , the rooms were clean and well kept , the staff were great , and breakfast was varied and good selection , the hotel is kept secure by the gate staff . Special thanks to the bar staff who tried their best to keep the bar stocked for 8 people sitting drinking by the pool most days ( Linda and William can’t remember the other names ) but they all done a great job Would certainly return again on next visit well done guys and girls
Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre

It has been a few years since my last stay at this hotel - and I am delighted to say, that this time around, I am even more impressed.. Check in was seamless.. (even for a group of 25 people).. smiles all around... and I was soon on my way by golf cart to room 610 in the estate, in the Silverbirch section of the estate hotel. the room had everything I could need - except for a bath.. not sure which room types would cater to this requirement at the hotel... but I am sure the reception would be able to change room types if required. Personally - my room had an in room safe, iron and ironing board, flat screen TV.. a noisy aircon ( old fashioned type that is wall-mounted ground level and blows air up into the room..) Walk in shower, plush pillows and linen .. Free Wifi .. ( a must in this day and age) The hotel has it all Rooms.. (Silverbirch, Birchwood and ValuStay.. plenty for any budget to pick from) Conference facilities.. the hotel sets the industry standard for conferencing and events. Gym Spa ( by Mangwanani) Several restaurants and eateries a pub ( on the grounds access by room key card.. ) Swimming pool more rooms lots of parking.. ( for both day visitors on conference ) and hotel guests in front of your room.. now... for the aircraft nerd in me.. the hotel could not be more suitable! .. personally I was delighted by being so close to the approach path and runway of OR Tambo Int airport,, seeing all the aircraft is truly a sight.. . BUT .. this also makes for the constant drone of this 737's A320's and the bigger birds.. a380's b777's B787's etc.. to touch down.. a bit much for someone that thinks they might have the tranquility as the estate might suggest. The rooms were quiet enough and I barely heard any aircraft while in my room.. but the moment you venture further out.. on the grounds.. the noise levels are luckily on the low.. as flights are coming in to land.. ( not as noisy as take off) The conference venues might also be impacted with the noise levels of the bigger aircraft coming over.. Note that most of OR Tambo's traffic arrives before 8PM and that the aircraft schedules most take off's on the run way that is a good 5km away in the opposite direction from the hotel.. so a good's night rest is still assured. Complimentary shuttles between the airport and hotel a full breakfast buffet with egg station and more options to shake a plate at.. The breakfast dining area is massive.. which should give an impression of how large the estate hotel truly is. Close to Eastrand Mall as well ( give or take another 5 Km's ) Overall... YES I will stay here again.. perhaps just a room that is closer ( sort of) to the breakfast area and check in.. convenient location - for sure! great stay - a resounding yes!
Europrime Hotel

The place is not too far from the airport (15-20min) and is in a bit of a safe, isolated part of Johannesburg. If you have a car or rent one, then life will be much easier as it is a bit far from city centers. There are places within 20 minutes within walking distance. If you are a walker, you don't *need* a car. Taxis like Uber and bolt don't seem to like coming out here, but the reception can call you a trusty private car. The whole place is quite clean and the staff are very friendly. They are willing to help with anything I've asked. ould recommend to others!
