Maverick Suites at 245 Newbury St

Street noise! (Not a good sign that the hotel provided earplugs!) Extra fees ("property fees") on top of taxes, making this a much more expensive option than initially shown. We felt ripped off. Invasive security demands (pre-check-in) before receiving door codes. TV remotes didn't work.

Well designed room, with a good use of space. Well located. Very clean. It could use a few more hooks in the bathroom, but that's just a quibble. The reduced rating is because communications are woefully inadequate. The hotel has no parking facility, but I didn't find that out until I arrived. It also has no elevator, which creates issues for people who have trouble with stairs, but again: no warning about that. While the property is well-maintained, I wouldn't stay with that hotel chain again, because I don't want more surprises.

Awesome Location Maverick Suites was in a perfect location on Newbury Street. It is a 19 minute walk to Boston Commons and the beginning of the Freedom Trail. It is also a 19 minute walk to Fenway Park. There are dozens of shops, bars and restaurants an easy stroll away. The only drawback was the stairs (and an extremely heavy front door!). We were on the 4th floor and the stair were a bit much. The room was clean with bare essentials in utensils, dishes, a microwave and refrigerator (that had no door to the freezer). Since the suite was in the heart of Newbury Street, it did get a bit loud at times late at night-especially by some very loud cars looking to show off...

This was one of the most minimalistic rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Guaranteed to be no frills here. No extra pillows, no extra blanket, no extra towels, soap bars, the size of postage stamps. A perfect IKEA showroom. Even the coffee pack left laying on the counter looked like it had been there for quite a while. Even the bedsheets didn’t fit the mattress. Also, when it says it’s a “non smoking” room that means that you can’t smoke in it. It does not mean that no one else can smokes in it either. The stale cigarette smell is overwhelming as you walk in the door. I will say that we had no issues with getting checked in or any problems with the code locks. Did not have any room service and I can see why. Would not want to be climbing those stairs every day.

Our stay was good. Saturday morning there was zero hot water in the shower.
