Magnolia earns an extra star for its fantastic location right in the I haven’t really got any cucumber cucumber for you. I like to stroke you if you want I can stroke you a little bit you’re quite brave aren’t you? You’re not scared like rabbits go around centre of things on charming Newbury Street within easy walk of an excellent coffee shop (Bittersweet), many restaurant options and shops galore. The apartment itself was ok: for a family of four it was a bit too cozy, with little seating space apart from the (rather uncomfortable) sofa bed and quite a small bathroom. Views from our apartment were over the roofs and air conditioning units to the rear. Excellent large screen smart TV. Loses a star because of avoidable hassles with Sonder: rather than just take a credit card imprint as a security deposit, they debited me £120 without any pre-warning. I then had to send a series of emails including a screenshot of my credit card statement before they admitted this, and then blamed it on a system change. It then wasn’t refunded as promised and I had to chase them again 10 days afterwards to try to get the deposit refunded. Not ideal.

I’ve tried Sonder for two times at different states and I will never do it again. They are terrible communicator, terrible management and the places are not as they describe! Would never recommend it.

One of the worst experiences of my life. Access codes were the biggest problem. Distribution of Codes were promised to be distributed 3 days before the stay by the Booking Confirmation. Called Sonder because they did not arrive. My confirmation number was changed from 10 digits to 8 digits (both still active per phone calls to Sonder). Was informed the policy changed to one day before (4 PM Check in) and that I should check tomorrow (the day of my stay). I was promised delivery of codes before noon. I was informed that staff was onsite 6:30 AM - 9:30 PM. There was no staff or location for staff on the property. Codes arrived in early afternoon but the Codes did not work when I attempted access. The keypad was loose and not firmly attached to the wall and the number were almost impossible to read. Another tenant allowed me in. I was able to access the room because the door lock malfunctioned I had an appointment, did not have time to sort it out with Sounder and the time, and assumed all would work out with enough tries of the codes. WRONG! When I arrived back the codes still did not work. I called Sonder and never received codes that worked. I was locked out at night with no possibility to stay in the room let alone retrieve my belongings. Again fortunately, another tenant let me in. Spent more that an hour with Sonder over the 3 days Totally irresponsible

Beware. Sonder canceled my reservation due to overbooking. They never notified me. It was only at check-in that I found out. They never even issued a refund. After an hour on the phone, it was finally issued. Then, I had to scramble to find another hotel close by. Very poor customer service.

I recently stayed at Sonder The Magnolia Apartments Back Bay and was underwhelmed by the experience. The apartment is located on the fourth floor of a walk-up building with no elevator, which was quite inconvenient, especially with luggage. The unit faced an alley, offering no view. It felt claustrophobic.  While the location on Newbury Street is excellent, the apartment itself felt average at best. The furnishings were basic, and the overall value did not match the high price point. I hesitated to sit on the couch - it looked like it might break and who knows if it is clean. In hindsight, a traditional hotel would have provided better amenities and comfort for a similar cost. Unless you’re specifically seeking an apartment-style stay and are prepared for the stairs and alley-facing rooms, I would recommend considering other accommodations in Boston.

I travel to Boston quarterly for work and always stay at this location. It's the perfect location to get in my daily runs, either on the Charles River or through the Public Gardens. Also close to lots of fabulous restaurants and a CVS a couple doors down in the event you forget something at home.

While I rated my experience Very Good I would have rated Excellent if not for my experience on Sonder's Chat feature. I would have rated it even less if not for Sean's helpfulness on site during my transition from one unit in the property to another unit in the property. I travel for work and stay at Marriott properties an extended period of time. I am also a Bonvoy Ambassador elite member due to my extended stays. I had been staying at this particular Sonder property in Boston since 12/08 my work engagement was extended to May 31 2025. Unfortunately I did not secure the unit I was staying in soon enough (4 weeks ahead of time) and needed to move to another unit. Asked for late checkout from the unit I was in and early checkin to the unit I was moving into. I got late check out without charge (which is typical for Bonvoy AE members) but was charged for early checkin (not typical for Bonvoy AE members) Sean assisted with moving all of my luggage and items (which is more than a typical trip since I've been in Boston since 12/08 now 2/1 and cold weather clothes are much heavier and bulkier). Thanks Sean for all of your help.

Beautiful apartment located in the best area. It was my first time visiting so the location was perfect. Very clean, modern and stocked up. Would definitely recommend. The only downside was the noise, we had a lift in our room (you couldn’t use) but it was shared with shake shack downstairs and was very noisy from them up to 11pm. As you would expect in the city the street was also very noisy all night / early morning so ear plugs are a must!!

Incredible location. Beautiful place. The main bed itself was so comfy. Great little kitchen. 1 issue: if you plan on using the pull out sofa, be sure to bring a thick mattress pad or something similar bc you can feel every single coil in the mattress.
