4 adults and 3 dogs, we ate her yesterday lunchtime. The food was amazing, home made and super tasty, large portions. Plenty of room for us all, no restrictions on dogs and water bowls and towels supplied, lovely touch. Staff were really friendly and the pub was spotless. I would highly recommend and we will definitely be back. Well done on getting perfection so soon after taking over. Keep up the good work 👍

Visited for Sunday lunch on Mother’s Day. Really disappointed with service. The pub wasn’t too busy and there were plenty of staff. No friendly welcome when we arrived. We had to ask twice to find out where our table was. No-one gave us a menu so we had to find them ourselves. I don’t mind bar service but it really felt a shame that we weren’t made to feel welcome at all. Especially on Mother’s Day. Food was good. It doesn’t cost anything to smile and say good afternoon. Very disappointed.

We were holidaying in the area, and decided to try here despite the poor reviews. The first time we came I had the sea bass and my husband has the pie of the day. Both meals were amazing! Relaxed atmosphere and great gin selection. Barmaids were friendly. A wait for food but that's what you get if you're after lovely homecooked meals. We went back with the rest of our family later in the week and we all again enjoyed all of our meals. Don't let the rubbish reviews put you off.

When we arrived we ordered some drinks and asked for a slice of lemon with my tonic water. The barmaid said that they didn’t have any. We then took our menus on large clipboards and sat where there is normally a large roaring fire, alas no fire. The room where we sat was not very warm but colder when unaccompanied children were frequently running from room to room through the outside door. We mentioned this to a member of staff,. We both ordered the lamb tagine with flatbread and Cumin mash. The flatbreads were burnt and the lamb was adequate. We overheard another family ordering burgers only to be told there was only one left. Overall a very disappointing evening!

Very pleasant and friendly staff. Clean and tidy. I was made to feel welcome during my stay! I will definitely stay here again and I will recommend this place to family & friends. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of it.

The food is decent and can't really fault it. It's more the service that has led me to this score. We went as a large group for a celebration and while I can understand this will make service slower, there's slow and then there asking if you've been served after already waiting for 30 minutes. Drinks were missing from the order. Waitresses rolled their eyes and tutted when they'd brought out incomplete orders - dark hair with a long ponytail. It took 5 minutes after being given a steak that an actual steak knife was given to eat with that's when we managed to catch a eye to ask for it. We had to ask for our table to be cleared in order to have the cake delivered which then took a further 15 minutes - to not arrive - we said we'd take it home to eat. There was one member of staff who said it was her first day and maybe the 'older' staff could take a leaf from her book as a smile and manners really are appreciated

A group of 7 of us had our evening meal here on two occasions whilst staying (elsewhere) in Midhopestones for a week. We had booked a table for the day we arrived and the meal was so good we booked again for 3 days later. On both occasions the 7 of us ordered a variety of meals from the good choice provided on the menu (of both mains and desserts). We all thought the meals were excellent. The food was delicious, well presented with generous sized portions. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was comfortable. Highly recommended. Would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

Decided to stop off here for a Sunday Roast after our walk round the reservoir and it didn’t disappoint. The food was mouthwatering and plentiful. I opted for the turkey roast whilst my husband went for gammon roast both were spit on. We ordered cauliflower cheese as a side as well as pigs in blankets but actually didn’t need to as there was more than enough. Highly recommend anyone to pay this pub a visit.
