The hotel lobby looks absolutely incredible! I was very excited about my stay. It is pure elegance and beauty. Same for the breakfast room, which the options there were fantastic. Glasses for juice and water were extremely small though.
However, the room left me feeling a bit disappointed, especially as this is supposed to be FOUR stars. Firstly when checking in, no one showed me to my room (this is usually a standard for 4 and 5 star hotels). Bathroom toiletries were poor, they are the cheap attached refillables that you usually find in 3 stars or less. No vanity kits, no cotton buds, pads or even a small bar of soap… Then there's the tea and coffee facilities... PAPER CUPS with very cheap kettle, found that appalling, I even requested to have real cups… BUT to have someone to bring them to my room would cost me €6??? So I had to go down from the 5th floor and collect them myself… what is the point in having room service if you have to pay for a person for doing their job. The mini bar was also empty, meaning if you wanted anything, you had to ask… however surely that would lead to more extra charges for someone to bring it for you? Very odd.
I have spent a lot of time in 4 and 5 star hotels and never encountered any of this. It's more like a 2/3 star at best.
Positives I'd say the bed was very comfortable, tv channel selections are good (perfect for anyone who has kids) and location is amazing, slap bang and only 10/15 min walk away from the Grand Place.
The chair near the tv however needs replacing, as when I went to grab it, splinter into my thumb…
Anyway, compared to where I have stayed, value for money was ok for me as I booked in advance plus during a sale, however, there's no way I'd pay RRP for this. The name if hotel and lobby are misleading, also, 4pm check in time is the latest I've encountered too, usually most places offer 1-2pm!
Anyway, this is suitable for people who like a comfy bed and good location, but if you're expecting full value for money, you won't get it sadly. It's somewhere I won't stay again, I usually take photos of the room… but didn't feel like they were worth it.
