Bucharest City Center
We arrived at the hotel at midnight due to our delayed flight. Our room was so hot it was impossible to sleep so we had to change at 0430 in the morning. Not ideal when you have booked a morning tour. The chap on receptions was incredibly nice and did his best to rectify the situation. The following evening we arrived back at the hotel after a long day sight seeing. We decided to have a beer in the hotel bar. As we entered, I was putting my face mask on only to be met buy an extremely rude, sullen barman who said ‘it’s a bit late now, you should have put your mask on before entering the hotel’. True but very rude so we decided to skip the drink. When I complained at reception I was told the barman had refused to serve me as we refused to wear a mask which was a blatant lie! Checking out the night before we wanted to pay cash to get rid of our excess Lei. The chap on reception said he had no change so we said we would pay in the morning. The following morning we encountered the same chap who still had no change. I suggested a solution and was met by a giant sigh and the comment ‘I’m too tired for this’. The breakfast was fresh but somewhat frugal and lacking in variety. The restaurant staff were extreme nice and helpful. Overall I would say the service was very disappointing, it’s a five star building with a 3 star mentality. Bucharest is an amazing city with great restaurants and bars, sadly I would give this hotel a miss as they really aren’t very service orientated. If you read my other reviews you will see they are generally very flattering but on this occasion I am struggling!

We had a family event organised there and all went great. It was during the pandemic and one of the main reasons we chose Marshal Garden, is the fact that they are very strict in respecting all the legal safety requirements. It is all very clean and even the most risk adverse guests told us they felt very safe. We appreciated that the offer included all we needed, from welcome drinks to the tasty cake, outsourced to Armand confectionery. The fruit bar was a surprise, as we did not expect it to have such a lovely design, with sculpted melons. Also, it was great that it included forest fruits. They were much appreciated! Should you organize a wedding there, you must know that having 2 rooms included in the offer is a huge plus. It makes everything much more easier. Last but not least, we appreciated their flexibility in offering solutions to various requirements we had and also in solving certain administrative aspects that arised. All in all, I recommend this hotel.

This hotel blew our minds and expectations. We booked the penthouse on the 11th floor as we wanted at least two bedrooms and a balcony space. Our apartment was spread across two floors with the bedrooms being located on the ground floor and a lounge, dining area and separate kitchenette with access to a large balcony with an amazing view of Bucharest city. Although we weren’t planning on spending much time in the apartment it was very comfortable, welcoming and a great space to entertain and hang out with a friend who moved back home. The WiFi was fast which was good and often I’m let down by this but as I often work remotely and oncall it is an important consideration for me. We didn’t get chance to use the spa facilities or pool but will when we return in the future. We had a very late check in with our flight landing at 02:10 in the morning. The staff made it easy to check in even at such a silly hour. The TV in the lounge area was a smart TV and allowed for signing in to Netflix. A hotel with TVs that fo not allow Netflix sign ins do frustrate me. The only gripe is they could do with better signage on the various buildings as our friend was joking us the next day and it wasn’t easy to direct her as there was nothing to indicate the building we were in. I appreciate people may live in these apartments too but a large number surely couldn’t hurt. I’m never a fan of breakfast buffets but this surpassed my expectations and offered a good selection of meats, juice, cheese and included eggs... no bacon though. All in all, all three of us enjoyed our stay here and I would book this apart hotel again in the future.

We had the misfortune of checking into this property after midnight, and the person working the front desk was the rudest and most incompetent "hospitality" worker I've ever encountered. First, the website for this property says that there is a hotel shuttle available. Upon landing I called the property, and was informed that the website was mistaken and there is no shuttle service provided. That was one of the main reasons I chose this property. After finally paying for an Uber to the property, we walked in, and were not even greeted by the person behind the front desk. No “hello”… No “Welcome”, just a rude attitude. My fiancee tried booking an appointment for the sauna for the morning, and he acted like it was an inconvenience and told her she would have to call tomorrow to the front desk to do it. After he gave us the keys, we went up to try and get into the room, and of course he hadn’t activated the keys properly, so we couldn’t get into the room. So we had to leave all of our bags in he hall and go back down to the desk to get them re-keyed. And when we finally got into the room, there was an odor and he air conditioner wouldn't cool the room. It was too hot to get ANY sleep due to the heat. Of course when we called down to the front desklet him know about the air conditioning, and when he answered the phone at the front desk all he said was a rude, “Yeah? What?” Now, perhaps that is how Wyndham trains (or doesn’t train) front desk staff. However, at Marriotts they always answer professionally with something like, “Thank you for calling the front desk. How can I help you Mr.. Graham.” As a Diamond Elite member with Wyndham/Ramada I expect much more friendliness and professionalism. Needless to say, we canceled our second night and moved over to the Marriott.

The hotel is better. The quality of the Romanian people needs to be improved. Whether parking will block other people's cars, it will slip away when it stops, and we will wait for a long time!

The Epoque fully delivers all the promises of the Relais & Chateaux brand. From such small details as the Molton Brown toiletries, to a lovely spa, a gorgeous bar and their high-end restaurant, we enjoyed a fabulous visit. The effortless greeting by a smartly dressed manager set the tone for the rest of the visit. The knowledgeable barman gave us a virtual tour of Romanian wines and drinking protocol. And the professionally trained staff at L’Atalier ensured a pleasant dinner. Our suite included full amenities, a stunningly comfortable bed and a spacious bathtub very friendly to this six-foot traveler and his nightcap from the mini-bar. The approach includes a few small streets. Trust your GPS to get you there; valet parking is available. Especially while the dollar exchange rate is so favorable, it’s hard to imagine there could be a better deal than a visit to sophisticated Bucharest. And it’s even harder to imagine a better place to stay than the Hotel Epoque. We are planning to return for a week.
