Not really good to stay long

1st time trying resort style campsite. That being said this will be my last. Too many problems for the price, and left feeling unfulfilled in happiness with camping. First, campsite was way too small, like extremely small. We have an rv and that’s about all the room we had. My kids like to explore and play catch at every campsite we have ever been at. Not this one. Site was about 20ft wide which was crammed with RV, our fold out chairs right next to RV, patio table, and our vehicle. We had to weave in and out around our stuff. As soon as we arrived a camper who literally lives there had there back flow of toilet unsealed so we were smelling that for a bit which was so disgusting, we were supposed to cook right next to it. That’s how small it was. Fire ring was a piece of metal that had burned through and placed on dirt, I just picked up and moved. No grate on fire ring and no grill to be used. Called to get one they couldn’t help. Had to cook food at another campsite. Games given around campground are ok but limited due to one person employed at location. So we did not get to play certain things due to no one there. We tried doing the rope activity with rock climbing but they kept saying not open the entire stay, even though people were in there. For $90 a night plus $16 a day per person not a good choice when looking for fun.

I want to start by saying that this is run almost entirely by teenagers and they are ALL super sweet and helpful. Some of the best kids I've met. That being said, staying here was not a great experience and I wouldn't recommend it to others unless some things change, which is why I'm writing this review. We've stayed at Jellystone sites previously and had good, low-key camping fun. This one intrigued us though because we always pass it on the highway and it looks like it has an enormous water park attached, so we decided it would be our big vacation this summer. The site itself is huge and there are LOTS of options for accommodations. There are teepees, RVs, covered wagons, silos, cabins...we chose to stay in the pirate ship. Yes, a pirate ship. Seemed perfect for our big, blended family of 8. The website and the reservation system send a whole lot of text, but don't actually tell you a lot of things, so I'm going to break this down and make it as easy as possible to get information. LATE NIGHT CHECK IN The website says you can check in late as long as you notify them. So I called before making the reservation. We would be checking in around 10pm, which is after all of the activities close for the day, however, the park would not waive the resort fees for anyone in our party. They told us the system doesn't even allow them to do it, which I find hard to believe since you can always credit something back in the system AND they run specials all the time discounting or waiving the resort fees. But I didn't quibble; it was important enough to us that we just went with it, even though resort fees for 8 is an extra $176 per day. THE PIRATE SHIP ROOMS The pirate ship is cool, but you need to know that suites are very narrow. It's 3-stories tall and each room has a little patio with a few seats and a table outside of the front door. If you're on the 2nd or 3rd story, you'll have a view of the water park, but you will have to walk up & down all those steps. Our experience was on the 1st story, which was great for access, however, unlike the other floors, there were no windows in our bedrooms. When we walked into our room, it reeked of vomit....a lot. And we quickly learned why. I don't know about the other rooms, but the first floor rooms have zero ventilation. There are 3 windows in the front of the suite and none of them open. There are a couple of ceiling fans throughout and a standard bathroom fan. That's it. I don't know how long ago someone threw up in there, but that smell was there to stay. The room was also not clean. The beds were made and there were towels in the bathroom. But the floor was filthy and blackened the kids feet as soon as they started walking around. We made a "no bare feet" rule inside the suite. We found a price tag for some clothes under one of the beds and a previous guests underwear in the dryer. Yes, seriously. And while the park calls itself a "resort" there is nothing about the rooms

This is a 120 acre property with a large water park, two pools, outdoor basketball court, large fishing pond, paintball course, etc. They have "The Barn" a large indoor area about the size of 4 gymnasiums with a dining area at one end and figurines to buy and paint at the other end. Along one side are various craft tables. Yogi Bear & Santa left early, so we didn't see them. Took a wagon ride through their Xmas lights, but these were weak compared to others. Now the accommodations. All sorts. We rented an 8 person cabin (possible 10 with the couch), but no closets or dressers. Only 3 stools at a bar for 8 people. Outside picnic table didn't work in the cold or rain. The cabin had a stove, microwave, fridge & coffee maker, but no filters. No plates, bowls, cutlery or cups were supplied. Bring your own stuff including basketbals, volleyballs, or bags for corn hole. Really bare bones. Waterpark would be fun in the summer, but closed early October.

We just got back from one of their Halloween themed weekends and it was awesome . We really did have a blast . We noticed previous complains about the property but they really have taken steps to remedy the problems. We painted pumpkins, candy bar bingo , dressed up our golf cart for the spooky golf cart parade , haunted hay ride , decorated our cabin . It was great to drive round looking at other cabins decorated too. Every single staff member was super sweet and went above and beyond. They had plenty food options , we ate at the grill , the creamery, there was food trucks with grilled cheese , Aunty Annie’s pretzels and another two we can’t remember..also the grill at the arcade . My teen enjoyed the arcade and fishing at the lake . The highlight for us was Hyjinx on the hill haunted trail ! It was sooo good and they got us good a few times . Always nice to see Krow being his normal spooky self . Our cabin was a 2 bedroom near the water park and was spotlessly clean . Beds were super comfy , towels white and fluffy .We honestly wished we had stayed longer. We will def return again. Thank you to all the staff and to Marcie for a great weekend. :)

I was aware the resort was kind of "rustic" in the sense of a natural park/water park - cabin, but to our surprise, it exceeded our expectation, our room was ample, clean and great. The staff was uber-kind and attentive to our needs, we were provided an informative package with all the activities and amenities they offer, I wish I had more time than just the weekend to explore the area; we all had fun. This is a family resort so expect pets and kids around.

There is nothing I cannot say that would be enough to how much fun this place is for the family!!! My wife and I had planned this trip blindly from just googling for vacations for our 4 kids ranging in age from 6 to 15. We booked Monday thru Thursday in the first week in August at the Yogi Bear themed all inclusive camp ground. With the school season starting back up, it seemed to be the best time as the property was probably only 1/3 of the way full with residents. We booked a cabin on the Pirate ship as it seemed big enough to hold our brood of 6 in total. IT WAS SO BIG ON THE INSIDE!!! Bunk beds built into the walls, a full size kitchen (must bring own cookware and dining ware). the TV was medium sized and wall mounted so you could swivel. both Queen rooms with barn style doors had TVs as well. the AC was amazing! We also rented a Golf Cart for our stay which if you are not young or active or enjoy walking in the heat, you really should invest instead of driving your car around the property. If you stay in the Ship, your access to the waterpark (Lazy River, Free Cabana, water slides) are free. If you stay in any of the other cabins, the game zone only is included. Innertubes are rented for a nominal daily fee. However, if you wait long enough, people discard them all day long. We really didn't have enough time in the 4 days we were there to experience everything they had to offer; i.e.: Tie Dye events, arts and crafts, Beareoke, Nature hikes, paintball, firetruck rides, hay rides, fishing(catch-and-release), mazes, playgrounds... the property is so endless it seems and they are expanding to add a ranch! the themes of the cabins are amazing and too many to list! They really do have a size for everyone from couples to groups of 20. TeePees, Covered Wagons, Glamping Tents, Mountain Style Cabins, Lake side Style cabins, Silo cabins, RV spots, Tent spots. I would not be surprised if they eventually added space ships! We have decided to go again next summer but add a couple of days to the stay. they are also close to an HEB and Old town Burleson area.

Didn’t live up to my expectations! For the amount of money we paid I feel more should have been included, for example the ceramics the glitter tattoos. The word “grill” is used very loosely in pirates cove grill, it’s just a glorified concession stand that is over priced. Employees were not friendly and most didn’t know what was going on. We were at the end of day 2 before an employee smiled at us. There was only 1 pool opened for everyone staying there so it wasn’t enjoyable. Sunday after most had checked out was really nice because we had water park mostly to ourselves and the pool since it was the last weekend of their season. We had ants in our cabin which they came and sprayed but we’re back the next morning. The cabin was nice except for the furniture in the living room was terribly uncomfortable to sit on. Overall we had a good time bc we were there but wasn’t what I was expecting. It’s definitely not for those over the age of about 12 or 13.

A/C did not work facility said they would have a/c guy come out, they never showed. Fouton/couch was junk with springs sticking out everywhere. No place to sit. Screen on screened in porch had holes everywhere so didn’t work to keep bugs out.
