I tried to book afternoon tea but the pathetic excuse who answered the phone couldn’t be less helpful, clearly couldn’t be bothered so neither could I - booked somewhere else, much better telephone manner! So pleased we didn’t waste our money!

Really classy, with style. Friendly owners who really cared. A menu I could understand, but top class ingredients made it special. A really comfortable bed and endless hot water. Very reasonably priced. Just what I was looking for 5 stars from me.

Lovely stay, rooms were great, could have been a little cleaner, staff were helpful. Food was very nice and the ambience was very comfortable. Great place to meet up for families. Have been here for weddings previously and it’s a great venue, lovely grounds for photos.

The Grange gets better each time I go there - The owners continue to invest in their hotel with new carpets and from what I could see, full-on decorating in tasteful and well chosen colours. Clearly they care about guests and are very accommodating. Should you need an ultra-fast EV charger (170kw), there's some within a couple of miles, so making a trip here shouldn't cause range anxiety and you can enjoy the warmth of welcome.

The hotel seems to be run with staff needs in mind rather than customers. The restaurant is not open on a Friday evening and the bar shuts at 9pm on other nights. There is no room service or mini bar. Under the beds are caked in dust, dirt and old socks. The curtains were falling down and there was constant noise from the boiler room right under the window. The room is stuffy but you can't open the window because the fumes blow in. The view is over asbestos roofs covered in muck, cigarette butts and discarded syringes. I was there for two nights. The television wasn't working on the first, and I was told to check the cables! I had checked what time latest check in was (10pm) and the woman was evidently irritated that I id not arrive until 9.45pm. Beyond this I can't rate the staff as I didn't see anyone. Having had very little sleep because of the boiler noise I received a call telling me I needed to check out in five minutes time, but there were no staff to be found when I tried to do so four minutes later.

Very nice spacy room with big bathroom and large bed. Lovely lounge and dining room. We were lucky to have been able to get a table for 6.45pm as the restaurant was fully booked on that Monday. The food were big portions and was very delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Greeted by a man devoid of personality. Room paid in advance but they wanted a £20 payment which they couldn’t explain. I’m used to hotels wanting to swipe your card but this was a payment which would be held for 7 to 10 days? Room very dated and tired. Poor excuse for a wardrobe in a double room which smelt. Bathroom was clean but floor tiles cracked, sink took an age to empty and toilet flushed when it felt like it. Room basically clean but windows black and mouldy. Lack of power points. Mattress rock hard and pillows old and really poor quality. Averaged around 3 hours broken sleep and woke feeling i needed the services of an osteopath. Dangerous fire escape to get to room which was plunged into darkness when I went for dinner. Manager didn’t seem bothered just said someone must have turned the light off? Breakfast was additional payment and not included. Shower is pathetic. More power out of a hose pipe. On the plus side I’m glad my grans old curtains from the 1970s have been put to good use. Wish I had stayed in a Premier Inn. At least I would have slept.

This place has character, like an old fashioned English country house, with massive oak doors and bannisters. We knew we were booking a small room in the main house because it was at short notice, but when we got there they gave us an upgrade so it wasn't too small for one night, and it was well-appointed. Pleasant view of the garden. Having dinner available in the restaurant was very convenient. The wine at the bar was very decent and good value. As for the full English breakfast, it could hardly be beaten, for the quality of the bacon and sausages, manner of serving and everything. Service was friendly. So, altogether, recommended.

The reception was rude; ignored me when I walked in, couldn't find me in her bookings list, then insinuated I was in the wrong. After finding the booking I had to pay a £20 'authorization fee’! There was no explanation for this. After a 16 h work-day in a field, I was sore, tired, and needed a good shower. I found my room had peeling walls, bodged tiling in the bathroom, a couple of spiders and a hand-shower i.e. no wall fixing. I cleaned mud and sweat off my aching body with one hand whilst showering myself down with the other. I had been looking forward to a relaxing shower; instead it was another job to be achieved as quickly and effectively as possible. Awful. I wouldn't use the bath as it looked grubby. I had a 6 am deadline to leave, so would miss my breakfast booked by the agent. No attempt was made to make me a packed breakfast, instead the receptionist was visibly pleased to have skipped that ‘paid’ job. This could have been done as the kitchen was open. After showering, I met a colleague at the bar. We were ushered out half an hour later (now 9.30 PM) by the receptionist, as the bar was closed; ‘bed-time’ apparently. Daylight robbery. Awful service. Awful room. DON'T GO!
