Nice place to stay

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever lived in my whole life. This is the first review I’ve ever wrote but I have to warn everyone who wants to live here. First, which was the worst thing of all, there was a woman who opened my door and came in in the middle of night. I was frightened and couldn’t sleep the whole night as I was a girl living alone. She then said she is confused and left, but how the hell did she open the door? The door was supposed to be locked. They gave me a room with a broken lock as a girl living alone. Second, the noise was unbearable. You can clearly hear everything outside and near you. The engines and people partying downstairs till 4am, you can even hear people next to you opening their doors. I heard a loud banging noise at 2am, later I even heard things dropping on the floor in the bathroom. I went to check, but there was nothing. I don’t know what the hell was that or was it someone next door or upstairs. Moreover, you can see in the photo, the window has some kind of scaffolding outside, and there are many birds standing on it and screaming all night long. Third, the bed had ants on it. My whole body was itching throughout the night. The blanket was extremely thin as if I had nothing on and as a result I caught a fever that night. Lastly, the temperature of the shower was impossible to adjust. It’s either boiling hot or freezing you to death. I wanted to leave this place and cancel the rest of my booking but they didn’t give any response when I reported the issue to trip.com. I couldn’t get any sleep throughout my trip and it was the worst experience ever. Please do not live in this hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel is very tired and needs a lot of work. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy but I do want clean. Well this place especially the bathroom was dirty. Mouldy shower curtain and built up grime in the shower and the basin. The hot water was very hit and miss. They apologised and supposedly cleaned the room. The shower curtain was replaced but nothing else cleaned properly. During this housekeeping edit the tv remote went missing and they could not replace it?? They only make up the rooms every 4 days?? Also if you loose the key which is an ordinary house key they charge $100. The only good thing was the location very central. I would not recommend this property

The only advantage is the good location. When we entered the room that day, the toilet smelled of feces. The room was large but the facilities were average. The hotel has a laundry room, but we were told that the washing machine was broken a few days before our stay. There was no prior notice, which caused us to disrupt our plans and arrange time to go out to do laundry.

I really like this hotel very clean very nice the hospitality is very good I really like it and they are so welcome welcome us the staff are very good they are very polite with us and very general I really love the room it was very good and big

I recently stayed at Hides Hotel during a trip to Cairns and was pleasantly surprised by the value and charm this heritage-style hotel offers. The location is absolutely unbeatable—right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of the Esplanade, night markets, Reef Fleet Terminal, and plenty of restaurants and cafes. Whether you’re heading out for a reef tour or just exploring the local area, Hides is a super convenient base. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed, including air-conditioning (a must in Cairns!), a small fridge, and free Wi-Fi. The building itself has an old-school character that’s a bit different from your typical chain hotels, which I actually really liked—it feels like you’re staying somewhere with history. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, happy to give recommendations and assist with bookings. There’s also a lovely wide veranda on the upper level, which is a great spot to relax in the evening and take in the atmosphere of the city. Only downside was that the hotel is a bit dated in places, and depending on the room you’re in, you might hear a bit of street noise—but that’s to be expected in a central location like this. Overall, Hides Hotel is a great choice for budget-conscious travelers who want clean, central, no-fuss accommodation with character. I’d definitely consider staying again.
