This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, made worse by deceptive pricing. Cons: • The refrigerator is outdated, doesn’t close properly, and produces a constant noise, making it impossible to sleep. You’re better off turning it off entirely. • Voltage fluctuations in the hotel compound can cause mobile devices to overheat, posing a safety risk. • Cleanliness is appalling—maids spit on the floors and stairs, leaving the strong smell of pan parag everywhere. • No hot water available. • The bed sheets and pillows are old and unwashed. The only way to avoid the nasty pillows is by sleeping with your face toward the ceiling. The furniture is equally outdated and poorly maintained. • The television is ancient and barely works. • Basic bath amenities are nonexistent. • The almirah doesn’t close properly. • The stairs are consistently dirty. • Mirrors have chewed gum and grime stuck to them. • The locks are old and ineffective. • Poor lighting combined with noisy, ineffective fans makes the room uncomfortable. • The entire hotel reeks of cigarettes and alcohol, making it unbearable for non-smokers and teetotalers. • A serious safety hazard: The ceiling fan is dangerously low—raising your hands could result in injury. Pros: • There’s a pool. • The beach is 0.5 km away on Holiday Street. • Plenty of beer available for those who don’t mind the unhygienic conditions. • There’s some artwork in the room, if that’s of any interest. Pricing Scam: Online platforms like Goibibo and MakeMyTrip list rooms for ₹3,000–₹5,000 per night, while the hotel reception offers the same rooms for ₹500–₹1,000 if you negotiate. Foreign tourists are charged around ₹2,000. This pricing manipulation feels like an exploitation of tourists, leaving a bad impression about Goa’s hospitality. Final Verdict: This hotel deserves a 0-star rating. The 3-star rating on Google is highly misleading. Also, don’t be deceived by online platforms claiming the rooms are fully booked—the hotel is largely empty. Staying here feels like a slap in the face to anyone expecting even basic standards. Just love this place, it is so calm and peaceful. You must go there. With swimming pool in the centre and tge little flats surrounding it. Maggies is set in the best place of Calengute with shops and taxis right outside. The beach is yards away.
