This is a very nice place, the rooms are lovely and the birds are good. HOWEVER it is not perfect. The rooms away from the house are down a very, very steep hill. Our room had a strong sewer smell that never went away. The owners live in the main house so it gives the feel of staying in someone's home with their rules. The rooms in the main house do not have locks, so if you stay there it is very important you do not leave any valuables in your room.

For 2 days and nights, my entire family “took over” the accommodations and extraordinary facilities at San Felipe. Owners Clara and Carlos were fantastic hosts looking after every detail of the rooms, birding arrangements, and importantly, meal experiences under the skill and knowledge of chef Juan David. We were expecting to see gorgeous and rare birds and this we got; on top, we got a culinary experience with Juan David, who took the time to walk the grounds, share his extensive expertise, and collect flowers and shoots that later would become part of our evening cocktails and meals. Rooms were clean and airy and well appointed with a modern flair. Truly a wonderful experience.

San Felipe Lodge is located outside of Cali near Km 18. Carlos and Clara own the lodge and open their home to make it feel like your home. The spacious rooms are located down the hill and are modern and comfortable. The food is delightful. The birds are wonderful. We saw the multicoloured tanager family! Clara will ensure you have everything you need and is very caring. Don’t hesitate to stay!

I can’t say enough good things about the charming San Felipe, nestled in the lush green mountains outside Cali. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality, fresh mountain air, and breathtaking views in every direction. The accommodations are spacious, comfortable and designed maintaining the feel of a weekend country home. Sergio, our guide was great! very knowledgeable and dedicated to help with the unique learning experience. We were able to have a close look at a variety of beautiful species, a lot of birds and more. We had the opportunity to see an owl for first time, in a unique foggy forest night. 10/10

My wife and I made a short-notice birding trip to Colombia in June 2021 and stayed for 8 nights at San Felipe. We are very happy we discovered it. San Felipe is an excellent choice for seeing plenty of cloud forest birds, including many rarities. The owners, Carlos and Clara Cabarcas (who both speak English), have done everything to make San Felipe attractive for birds and comfortable for guests. We stayed in a spacious, well-equipped cabin downhill from the main house, where the owners live. We ate almost all of our meals in the main house. The on-site cook fixes delicious Colombian dishes. We have stayed in many birding lodges in South America and can attest that San Felipe is among the best.

Una finca muy bonita, con excelentes instalaciones para disfrutar. Muy buena atención por parte de los anfitriones, comida deliciosa y bien servida. El guía para la actividad de Pajareo muy paciente y conocedor del tema. Las estaciones de avistamiento muy bien pensadas. Variedad de aves para observar.

El mejor lugar para observar aves de esta región. Los puntos para observar y fotografiar están diseñados por gente que fotografía aves, con más creatividad que en otros lugares. El manejo que reciben es impecable, como lo son todas las instalaciones. Para personas con limitaciones de movimiento hay puntos de observación de fácil acceso, así como senderos para no videntes, con una línea de vida que los guía.Todo esto en manos de gente profesional y hospitalaria. Ya estoy planificando cuando regresar. Fantástico!
