A lovely stay. One night of being made to feel welcome and at home. Such a lovely relaxing place. Totally chilled and looked after by fantastic, friendly staff. Nikita welcomed us and from then on everyone was amazing as well. We loved the room and the food at Harry’s was delicious. We are looking forward to returning.

2 😊night stay at the end of February.. Our 2nd visit in 6 months & we were excited to return 👍.. It was nice to be ' expected' & the welcome from all the team across our stay was consistently friendly 😊👍.. Our 2 dogs were made to feel welcome & fussed over..👍👍.. I feel it's a testimony to everyone that there was no one that outshone anyone else, i.e. all deserve 5😊👍.. Good food, with the standout dish being the Scallops 😋😋.. The ' wine at 5' offerings hit the spot too..😊.. We will return & will definitely recommend..⭐..

A fantastic stay for us both this weekend. A room upgrade which was an amazing bonus, a warm and helpful welcome from Lindsay, along with the very best in service from everyone in the team. To improve? Maybe consider an egg chef for breakfasts. Offering scrambled, poached and fried along with eggs benedict/Florence from the kitchen would really enhance breakfasts.

Having had such a fabulous new year at the Gallivant for 2024, we decided to treat ourselves and return this year. One of the things we loved last year was the opportunity to chill, I mean how often do we do this so that is what we wanted again. We got out for a couple of walks but we also spent time curled up on the sofa reading and listening to our music. We liked the way things were slightly different so there was an air of surprise still there and we loved the food, in fact we thought the food was even better than the year before. The lamb we had on New Years Eve was the best I have tasted for a long time. The staff were fabulous and we felt we were 'home' again. Thank you so much.

Our recent stay at The Gallivant was our second visit, and it was a great way to spend New Year's. The peaceful coastal setting provided the perfect backdrop to relax and start the year on a calm and positive note. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we felt comfortable throughout our stay. Their helpfulness and professionalism stood out once again. The food and drinks were excellent. The room was cozy, with thoughtful amenities that made our stay even more enjoyable. We're glad we chose The Gallivant for our New Year's getaway and would happily return in the future.

Yoga was exceptional. Three classes in 4 days. Not staying at the hotel but greeted like a valued customer when I went to class. Orange shot after was most welcome. The studio was so well equipped. Thank you Melanie for pushing me outside my comfort zone xxx

We were planning to go to Babington House in Somerset, but decided to try somewhere different for a change. The place is cosy and the bar area was inviting. You get complementary cake at 4pm and then wine at 5pm. The place did feel a little bit like an old peoples home. it was very quiet and calm, which was nice, but it was missing any kind of buzz or vibe in the evening. I wonder whether it is more lively at the weekends? Food in the restaurant was AMAZING, lots of interesting menu options for the adventurous diner. The breakfast was original and delicious. From the outside, the rooms reminded us of a motel from one of those American road movies. Inside they were nicely decorated, with a roll top bath, comfortable bed and access to private (ish) outside space. We both had massages with Ruth, who clearly knew what she was doing. Just as good as the Babington Cowshed massages. Just a shame the spa area couldn't be a bit bigger so we could have massages at the same time. it was a fun experience, and had something unique about it.

We recently stayed at The Gallivant to celebrate my birthday and opted for the 30 Under 30 package, which offers incredible value for money. Our stay included the full Gallivant experience—dinner, wine, an evening tipple, breakfast, and even a morning yoga class. From start to finish, it was nothing short of exceptional. As it was a special occasion, we were delighted to find that our room had been upgraded to a beautiful garden room with its own private outdoor space. The room was stunning, and the bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. A lovely gesture from the team. The little touches really made our stay memorable. Happy hour on oysters was such a treat, the cocktails were spectacular, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. Every detail felt thoughtfully curated, and the atmosphere was relaxed yet luxurious. Honestly, there are no cons to mention. The Gallivant absolutely deserves all the recognition it’s received. We left feeling completely refreshed and can’t wait to return. I am gutted that I have left it this long to write my review as I’ve forgotten the staff names - but from the minute we checked in to departure we were so well looked after.

Nice hotel but very disappointing choice of expensive food. Only 4 main courses, including one vegetarian which contained an unhealthy cream sauce. The only roast on a Sunday was quail. I had cod and chips (no peas) for £22.00! Not good enough for the event we were planning.

Just spent a night here ! Wow.. what a lovely hotel . Really gorgeous comfortable rooms, loads of little touches that make it special . English wine hour being a favourite ! Roaring fires , everywhere so comfortable Food was fabulous & it’s dog friendly too which is a bonus for us ! We will definitely be back ! Connor & the rest of the FOH team were great too !

Staying at the Gallivant is a uniquely wonderful experience. I've stayed in plenty of nice hotels and eaten at plenty of good restaurants, but the Gallivant goes way beyond this. The attention to detail (whether in the garden, the decor, the bedding, the housekeeping, the complimentary cake and wine, or whatever) is extraordinary, and guests feel really well looked after. The staff are brilliant, and achieve exactly the right balance of friendliness and helpfulness, without ever being intrusive. A triumph!

My wife and I recently stayed at The Gallivant in Rye, and we couldn’t have had a better time. The place has a relaxed, charming vibe that made us feel right at home from the start. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. One of the highlights was being so close to the beach. We even took a dip in the sea in October—cold but totally worth it! The hotel provided dry robes, which were a lifesaver, letting us warm up and enjoy the experience without freezing all the way back. The Gallivant’s atmosphere was just spot-on. It’s stylish but comfortable, and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into the little details. The food was fantastic, too—fresh and delicious, with a real focus on local ingredients. All in all, The Gallivant is a real gem. It’s got everything you need for a laid-back, memorable getaway. We’ll definitely be back!

We booked The Gallivant back in July for our wedding anniversary but had to move the date to October due to personal circumstances. All the way through staff were very accommodating and were only too helpful in helping change the date and ensure we were rebooked for the room, dinner and morning yoga. Communication at all times was fantastic!! So we at last stayed at The Gallivant and wow what an experience!! On arrival the staff were so welcoming, booking us in and showing us round the place. The shared spaces, such as the bar the reading room and restaurant are completed to a really high standard and the bedroom was really comfortable with a fantastic shower!! Pre dinner we enjoyed a few glasses of lovely English wines and then had an excellent two course meal which was cooked to perfection! We slept really well in a really cosy comfortable bed and woke to a relaxing yoga class with Katie followed by one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Real shame we only had the one night… I could have easily stayed all weekend. Thanks to all the Gallivant staff for making our stay so memorable!! What a wonderful experience!!

My Mum and I had a one night stay at The Gallivant. We had a wonderful time - everything from the food to the wine to the board games to the amazing staff made our stay absolutely perfect. It rained heavily the entire time but that didn’t matter as the place is so cosy with lots of snugs to relax in. We can’t wait to return as soon as possible!
