The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort Villas & Spa, Cancun

The hotel feels a bit dated, like one of those older-generation resorts (which is common in Cancun, given that the first Hyatt was developed here back in 1974), but it's well-maintained and the rooms are very clean. The two-bedroom suite is actually a one-bedroom suite connected to a standard room next door. There are many Westin Vacation Club salespeople here promoting timeshares, all part of the Marriott group, and they frequently call the rooms.

The rooms are quite dated. We booked a sea-view room, but were inexplicably assigned a ground-floor room. To add insult to injury, even after tipping, they offered to move us to a higher floor, but it would have a view of a garbage disposal plant. Definitely would not recommend.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and we could see the pool and the ocean from our room. The room had a microwave and coffee maker, and a full set of dishes and pots were provided. A washer and dryer were available, and detergent was also provided. The shower room and bathtub were separate. The shower head was detachable, which made it easy to use. A bus departs right in front of the hotel, making it easy to get to downtown.
