The bell men were brilliant! The reception was brilliant. Laundry service was also fantastic. We had an issue with our original room and they moved us within 15 minutes of calling the reception. The hotel is central and easily accessible for Uber. Everyone was so delightful and happy, lovely experience staying here. We are back in 1 week for another night and look forward to it. Great start to our honeymoon!

Spent four nights here and found the hotel, the staff, the rooms, and the food. All excellent. Great central location for Cape Town and stuff are on hand to help you with Ubers et cetera. I get a bit nervous with a lift and access to the hotel is via a lift, so something to bear in mind if you prefer stairs. Can gladly recommend this hotel – thank you to all staff who looked after us

Wonderful attentive staff, but we felt that the hotel was a bit tired and had over egged itself. The description said “show-stopping bar offers the perfect space to sit back and enjoy the city views with a classic cocktail”. There were no city views and no cocktails were available at the mediocre bar. The deck view, was surrounded on all sides by 8ft walls that you couldn’t see over, so no views. In our room the air con worked with no issue, but the shower tray was cracked and there was a damp smell in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the window could open 10cm. The view from the room was into an appartment / office block, and the nearby market was very noisy till the early hours.

The building is very interesting, the bedroom is large and the bed very comfortable. The bedroom was exactly like the pictures. The staff is very nice, always smiling and helpful. The restaurant is good and the decor is lovely. As it was winter we had dinner there almost every evening. Simple but good food . If you choose breakfast included you can choose from several options made to order: loved the eggs Benedict and the omelet. It is centrally located and has a market in the street. As the windows are still made of wood you can hear some noise in the morning when people are putting the tents. The neighborhood is not the best to be walking around in the evening. We used uber very often, but the prices were very cheap compared to europe. As the reception is on the 8th floor, we don't have wi-fi at the main entrance. That is often needed to call the Uber.

Hotel was beautiful. Breakfast was good. However very noisy Neighbourhood at night with no sound proofing on the hotel windows. Will need to sort this out. Then the porter crashed our car when he drive it. Otherwise service was good. New hotel, with teething issues

The Old Banks Hotel was our first night after landing in Cape Town. We were received extremely friendly with a big smile at the reception and that is the first thing I would like to praise: the staff. Every single staff member was very friendly and welcoming. There you immediately got into a positive mood after the long journey. Our room was large, clean and very nice. The breakfast was varied and delicious. If you want to be right in the center, this is the place to be. The location is right in the middle! Thank you very much for the great stay.

This hotel was recommended to us by Trailfinders when we booked our multi stay holidays to South Africa and Mauritius. The hotel itself was very nice, with nice and clean rooms and very comfy beds. The shower room was very clean with very good quality complementary toiletries. The breakfast was good and the staff was very helpful and kind. The hotel also dressed our bed with red rose petals to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and this was a very much appreciated gesture. Sadly, we felt the location was not ideal, everyone we met told us not to go out and walk around the area as it is not safe. We ended up using Uber (which, by the way, is very convenient and affordable in Cape Town) to go everywhere. We felt it was a shame as we always like to walk wherever we go to experience an authentic feel of the place.
