Maartens Guesthouse

This was our last stay in South Africa before going home. The guest house is located in a safe area in Cape Town and is run by two great people. We received great advice about places to go, where to eat, etc. The room was excellent, clean, large bed. Good breakfast. If we visit Cape Town again, we will certainly return to Maartens!

This was a lovely place to stay. Everything had been thought about and Maarten could not have been more helpful on giving advice about where to go if you needed it. The guesthouse was great with a nice pool. The rooms were good and a couple of them have a great view out over the sea. Staff were also really friendly. If we were back in the area, we would not hesitate to book here again.

Maarten's guesthouse is perfect to start a holiday. The room is nice and clean with an excellent bed. Maarten, the owner, offers a very tastefull breakfast, served in the garden. He is very helpfull as well as he helped us last minute with a paragliding flight at Goparagliding. Several facilities like a pool, honestybar and a fridge on the room. Everything is possible with him, we enjoyed our stay at his guesthouse very much and would love to come back again when travelling to South Africa.

Maarten and his team is great! The location is very nice. It is a perfect place for a visit in Capetown. The breakfast was very good. The rooms are very clean. The garden and the Pool invite you for a relaxing day after sigthseeing or other things you have done!

Marteen and his staff really make you feel welcome, always available for help, checking if you have a good time, need help or advice. Great location, many great things close by. Really wanna come back when in Capetown.

My wife & I stayed at Maartens Guesthouse 17th / 18th November and we had a very enjoyable weekend. Maarten was extremely helpful in explaining the facilities and local area to explore. Perfect location and very comfortable accomodation. We enjoyed the swimming pool when not out walking / taking a bus trip around Cape Town and enjoying local restaurants.

The smallest room was perfect for a solo-traveller (but could suit a couple as well). The owners were very friendly and helpfull. The guesthouse is on a good location in. Fresnaye is a safe area to go around

Our friends recommended Maarten’s to us having been there last year. We are so glad they did. What a lovely place to stay in Cape Town. Located in the quiet suburb of Fresnaye, Maarten’s is an oasis of calm and tranquillity in a vibrant, busy and fascinating city. Busy days doing ‘stuff’ were followed by peaceful quiet nights in the guest house, the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a 10-minute walk down the hill to Mojo’s where there are a range of food and drink outlets. (Try going there on a Sunday when there is a big football match on the TV-it was jumping!). 15 minutes down the hill takes you to the red/blue hop on-off bus stop at Seapoint. This was incredibly useful. In the evening we tended to travel back from the city of the V and A Waterfront by Uber, average cost around £2.50 for a 15- minute trip. Our room was lovely (we were in Room 1). It was big, well appointed, had a nice balcony, a comfortable bed, a massive bathroom and we were extremely comfortable there. The attention to detail was impressive in the little things available in the room, it was clean, it was cleaned and turned down regularly and overall we were very happy with it indeed. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, efficient but always in the background. They were quick to spot when we needed anything, and they really did look after us wonderfully well. Maarten is a fantastic host. He is warm and engaging, unbelievably helpful sharing his knowledge and advice gained from many years’ experiences of Cape Town. He is kind and generous and really took time to engage and chat with us about our plans and experiences in the cape. His attention to detail is impressive and he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time we could. Beyond all of this he was a witty, kind and charming host.
