Response from Property: Hello HStahl851494 Please note that we have several rooms of different sizes to suite different budgets. Most of our travelers who chose the smaller rooms are often on a tight budget and / or do not need to pay for a larger room as they will be out most of the day. However, even our smallest room has a Queen sized bed (with a great quality mattress), good linen, tea and coffee facilities, a mini bar fridge and LED smart TVs. Guests also have access to a comfortable, communal lounge area with sea views, which is also where we serve our fabulous breakfasts in the morning. We also pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our rooms and the whole guesthouse. You chose the smallest, most budget friendly room on the online booking platform you used to make the reservation. The photos offer an accurate description of the rooms. We did have a number of larger rooms available at the time of your booking, including a large one with fabulous sea views and an outdoor balcony area. You opted not to select any of these. We have had many people (including couples) who have stayed in the same category of room you selected and loved it. And fortunately nobody has yet injured themselves moving in the small space and they seem to have adequately washed their hands and brushed their teeth, despite the small basin. The windows do open, they are small and don't offer any views, but they do let air in. You should have asked any of our staff to assist you with opening the windows if it posed a problem for you. And once again, if you are claustrophobic, you should have opted for any number of the larger rooms available. We even have a few that have air-conditioning. You were welcome to opt for a room upgrade. Nobody is "breaking stones just behind your window". There is some construction happening about 200m away (which is beyond our control and fortunately nearing completion), the building hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Most early birds have long flown the nest by then. I'm uncertain what "date of inspection" you are referring to, so I can't comment on that. We really do strive to ensure our guests needs are taken care of and offer a homely, clean and safe environment for locals, internationals, business travelers and holiday makers. We have regulars who have stayed with us for 20 years and guests who have become friends and family. Our ratings on many platforms are a testimony to our efforts over nearly 30 years. We are not beyond making mistakes and sometimes events are beyond our control (wind, heatwaves, construction, traffic etc) and you can't please everybody all the time, but we certainly give it a good bash. I regret that you had such a loathsome time despite our efforts. I do hope that you found more suitable accommodation for your needs and that you at least enjoyed your visit to our beautiful city.
