Taj is always a Gold standard in every aspect of hospitality. Starting from the front desk to the house keeping staff, everyone makes you feel at home. At Cape Town, it is really the finest. Extremely polite well behaved staff and welcoming at all times. The breakfast is amazing and a real well spread. Rooms are so comfortable and spacious that it is actually a home away from home. Upgraded to a Loft suite. Excellent (once the air conditioner unit was explained). Staff great. Housekeeping a bit too eager. On site restaurant Liberty's seems slow and disorganized, even for South Africa and especially for a Hilton's. Free shuttle to V&A Waterfront every two hours. Walking distance to the Old Biscuit Mill (a Saturday morning must-do). Regular and reliable taxi service around Cape Town at reasonable rates, for drop off and pickup. Airport shuttle. Neighborhood was very safe Don't pre-book tours before you get here; Yasir and his team will take good care of you.

This hotel boasts a prime location, providing easy access to key attractions. While the breakfast is average, the standout feature is undoubtedly the exceptional customer service—friendly and accommodating staff go above and beyond. Amenities are decent but not exceptional. Overall, a solid choice for those prioritizing location and top-notch service over lavish amenities.

Swimming pool. Tiny, but large pool not far. Laundry. Just across the road 130 rand for 5kg Storage. More than ample. TV. Bit eccentric, but Netflix access included. Broadband. Width OK for email, but not consistent streaming. Breakfast: Competent, fruit, cooked, Snack menu. Limited, but competent (stops midday) Bar. Good options, superb barman Staff. Friendly. Load shedding. Back up generator. Information pack in room would be useful. Would we stay again? YES.

We had a wonderful stay here. We arrived early and exhausted after 24 hours of travel and the manager Emma was so kind to us, finding us a room available to check in early and went above and beyond to fix an error on the booking (that I had made). We were given a high floor room so there really was no noise from the city. Great breakfasts, great pizza in the restaurant. Free transport to V&A waterfront which we used once. Short walking distance to the conference centre, or a $3 uber. I'd stay here again!

This is a very nice (new) hotel close to the downtown and Waterfront area. A twenty minute walk to either location (not an easy walk) - they do have canal water taxi service available to take you to the waterfront. Definitely worth the experience. The breakfast service is delightful but can get crowded at times due to their catering of large tour groups. Rooms are nice, AC unit works very well, showers hot, tv selection extensive, and service awesome. Recommend for those looking for a very nice hotel at a reasonable rate. One downfall to the hotel / location is that is bucks up to the container / shipping area so when vessels come in you will hear a lot of container unloading noise at night. Ask for an ”even” numbered room so you are on the opposite side and you get a view of Table Mountain

The Commodore Hotel is a very comfortable 4 star hotel. It is located a 5 minute busy and safe walk from The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront precinct, just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Waterfront. The restaurant offered a varied and plentiful breakfast buffet. The bar area was comfortable for a pre or post dinner drink and perfect for a light dinner after a busy sightseeing day. There is a lovely courtyard area and small pool (the water is bracing as the pool is not heated, understandable with the daily load shedding experienced in South Africa). We stayed in a room with small balcony and views to Table Mountain. Highly recommended.

Location excellent. Breakfast and service very good. Clean room. We stayed here one night and the only issue was room location. We backed up to the pool area and it was a bit noisy at times. Aside from that a great value with the waterfront as a neighbor.

The location is excellent, the beach is opposite, although the beaches in Cape Town are really average, but the sea is still very pleasant to see the balcony. Hotel decoration is not new but very quiet, health is also OK, service staff attitude is also good, direct recommendation.

Outstanding
GGuest UserI stayed at Urban Hive for a month, and it felt like a home away from home. The staff is super friendly, nice and accommodating, and ensures everything to make the guests comfortable. It’s centrally located on Long Street, in a beautiful heritage building, and has many hangout places like bar, balcony, lounge. Close to many touristic places and especially to explore the nightlife of Cape Town. The rooms, bathrooms, kitchen are all well maintained and super clean. All in all a perfect experience and will definitely stay there whenever I visit again.
GGuest UserIt's pretty good. I'm also lucky to find a store opposite the hotel.
High safety factor, City sightseeing buses will also pass by
South Africa is quite chaotic, but safety comes first
SSaraGreat location for the airport and the free shuttle is perfect. The hotel is very comfortable and has everything for a great overnight stay. My only gripe is the staff all.standing around in groups chatting loudly at breakfast and having to wait 20 minutes for change in the restaurant in the evening.
MMoMoCHu5360 Overall the stay was great, but finding mould in the in the vent in the toilet was an uncomfortable surprise.
Breakfast was lovely.
Staff were extremely friendly; however one staff member would sing and speak really loudly to no one in particular while tending the bar.
This establishment cannot be recommended. It is overpriced and, in my experience, demonstrates customer service that is far below acceptable standards, reflecting a clear lack of competent leadership. While the rooms are adequate, they are overpriced for long-term stays, and the location, while decent, is nothing exceptional. The administration's handling of my deposit refund was appallingly poor. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the matter, it took them four months to return the deposit, during which I encountered repeated incompetence, unresponsiveness to emails, and even dishonesty. It was only after countless follow-ups and multiple in-person visits to the hotel that the issue was resolved. If you value professional and reliable customer service, I strongly advise against staying here.
JJulian PeensThis bed and breakfast is in the ideal location to visit Simon’s town and its coastline however the actual set up of the bed and breakfast is a huge let down.
We arrived to find our room was not ready, once it was the place still looked unkempt, there was a bucket in the bath, the furniture had not been returned to its original locations well and the complimentary items seemed used.
On our second night there was load shedding a common occurrence however there seemed to be no precautionary measures taken and we had to use our phone lights to climb the three flights of stairs to our room only to find the rechargeable light (obviously for such occasions) had no batteries and was therefore useless. As South African citizens we fully understand the uncertainty of power but for the cost and normal clientele of this accommodation we really expected there to be more in place.
The meal times had been adjusted for the convenience of the staff who were on the premises compared to the welcome sheet details we received on arrival. The whole place seemed to be being run by support staff with no obvious manager on site for the three days we were there (we stayed over a weekend which I would assume to be a prime time)
There is about 4 parking sports in front of the building but they were not being used to their full potential and often we had to park a little further away.
Overall the location was the main positive. Considering the price we would have hoped to have better amenities and hope that the profile for this accommodation can be amended as there are no pools on the property unlike what the description had lead us to believe.
Luckily the charm of Simon’s town and the beaches made up for the serious lack of attention to detail and luxury you would assume a place this price and in this location would have.
3/10 would probably not go there again.
FFGTRTDThe location is good. Not too far from a Woolworths grocery store and a coffee shop. The coffee shop opens really early which is essential when loadshedding hits and you can't make coffee in the hotel. The coffee was inconsistently replenished so again, being near a Bootleggers coffee was necessary. The hotel doesn't have a generator so when there is load shedding, you will be affected. If you are going to arrive early, you won't be able to check in early as there was no one who could help us at the front desk until 3pm which is standard check in time. We ended up having lunch in the restaurant so we weren't too inconvenienced but if your flight is much earlier in the day, do be aware of this. Otherwise, not a bad stay and I would consider staying again.
CChisama NaifiNestled in the vibrant heart of Cape Town lies the enchanting A Sunflower Stop Backpackers—a haven that marries comfort with an authentic sense of wanderlust. From the moment you step through the doors, a warm embrace of hospitality envelops you. The hostel's charm resides not just in its impeccably clean rooms or its vibrant decor, but in the genuine sense of community it fosters among travelers from around the globe.
The staff's unwavering dedication to ensuring a memorable stay is truly commendable; their wealth of local knowledge guides you through the city's treasures, unveiling its hidden gems. Whether you're lounging in the cozy common areas or exchanging tales under the African sky in the courtyard, every moment is a celebration of diversity and shared experiences.
A Sunflower Stop Backpackers transcends the ordinary, transforming a stay into an unforgettable journey, leaving you with cherished memories and an undeniable longing to return.
MMaxim KeynoThe hotel has a convenient location in the center of Cape Town. The rooms are comfortable enough for one or a young couple. If you plan to walk around the center - it's quite easy. I got to the Waterfront by walking in 20 minutes along busy streets and did not feel any danger anywhere. Small shops and supermarkets around the hotel allow you to cover all your everyday needs.
The breakfast is quite meager, but literally around the corner on the next street you can find good cafes where you can have a great breakfast for a reasonable price and a supermarket where you can buy ready-made food.
Immediately to the right of the exit from the hotel is the entrance to a beautiful park, from where wonderful views of the mountains open.
The staff is responsive and helps to solve all problems.
The only drawback is the noise from the air conditioning systems coming from the yard at night.
GGuest UserHaving travelled extensively and stayed in numerous hotels worldwide, I can confidently state that my recent experience was the worst ever. Despite seeing several negative reviews about their service, I thought they were just occasional lapses. However, I soon discovered that the hotel had a persistent service problem. I had a problem with my reservation and spent two days trying to resolve it, but no one cared. To make matters worse, I was charged ten times the amount I had originally paid for the same room (i.e., $300 instead of $30) without any reasonable explanation. When I questioned this, the staff merely shrugged it off, citing fluctuating prices as the reason. The lady in charge of reservations was extremely rude and disrespectful throughout the ordeal. In addition to the issues with my reservation and the exorbitant charges, the air conditioner was not working properly and made a lot of noise. Furthermore, the fridge in my room made a huge noise, which disturbed my sleep at 2 am (I recorded a video as proof). Moreover, the noise levels in the dormitory were unacceptable all the night! making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. In short, I urge anyone considering staying at this hotel to think twice and look for other options.
