The County Hotel

Traditional city centre hotel, great location, excellent value (low season?). The young lady on reception duty, spotted my request for a quiet room , well done - stayed at a 4 star in Liverpool the night before and they didn't! Young chap also on reception gave me a bit of the history of the place - thank you . Room was fine, old building so high ceiling, nothing flash but it had some character. The lounge is beautiful with original features.

Room was a great size. Clean and tidy. Bedding clean and clean towels. Was great for a night. Very central to station and bars and restaurants.

Stay in room with 3 single beds, very spacious and comfortable beds. The hotel is dated in places but it's an old building. The room was very clean, plenty of hot water for all 3 guests to have a bath. The breakfast was lovely and the breakfast chef Christine and the waitress provided exceptional service accommodating the vegans with their requests. For the price we paid we felt we got a bargain.

1. Elevator too old, can take only one person at a time. 2. Alarm system oversensitive, 3 times false alarm during my one night stay. 3. No free parking though advertised as “free parking in public parking next to the hotel. The hotel charged us 8 pounds for one overnight parking. 4. The frontline worker is friendly but cannot help because these are management issues.

The location is very convenient. The staff are friendly and helpful. However two rooms assigned to us has noise during night which affected sleep . Parking space are sufficient.

Hotel was nice but only food service was pizza, luckily there was a range of places to eat on the same road. Breakfast was good and had a good range and was family friendly

The photos of the rooms are extraordinarily deceptive. The room is dreadful. It’s tiny. It’s upstairs and downstairs through a rabbit warren of corridors. The carpet is very old and covered in stains. An educated guess is 20 years old. The kettle is dangerously oversized for the base. THERE ISNT EVEN CENTRAL HEATING!! The only reason this venue isn’t being used as an immigration centre is because it’s entirely unsuitable. Seriously grim, feels unclean.

I imagine this was once a grand hotel. Now more budget but it's in a great location for seeing the city Warm.clean and comfy what more do you need. A good buffet breakfast is also served. Great location for breaking a journey from north Scotland to south England. Parking a little limited and an extra £7 a night, but what can you expect from a city center hotel.
