Hyland Inn Near Legoland

Good location, easily accessible on/off highway 5. Room was decent for price and satisfied with both management and staff room was fairly clean and functional.  TV had limited stations but also provided ample choices.

We end up not staying in the hotel. They kept our money for one night. It smelled like Roche spray and they were roach. Poops all over the molding of the Room and the beds were wrapped and double Linning plastic Very unwelcoming to sleep in so we walked away, do not recommended, and it’s ugly and depressing. It’s not a hotel. It’s a motel more like a ************ motel.

For people passing through for a night or two, or dragging their kids to Legoland, it's perfectly fine. It was pretty clean, and the staff was decent. It's about half a mile to Carlsbad Village, so close enough to the hub, and rideshares are cheapish. The nigtly rate is pretty low for the area, so it works on that level. As a nice, "staycation" kind of place, though, not so much. In my room at least, not one single towel rack or chest of drawers. The AC sort of worked, but it sounded like I was next to an airport (and I was already right next to the freeway). Lots of cosmetic damage that didn't interfere with the functioning of the room, but some might be bothered by that. The desk was way too small to try and get any work done, but again, that was for me. It's just not for everyone, that's all.

After working a full night shift in Los Angeles, I drove straight to Oceanside for my son’s soccer tournament. When I arrived at the hotel I had originally booked, I found out my three-night reservation had been canceled because I didn’t check in the first night. Exhausted and frustrated, I decided to try Hyland Inn. I showed up around 11AM knowing check-in wasn’t until 3PM and respectfully explained my situation, just hoping for a little understanding. The gentleman at the front desk didn’t hesitate — he simply said, “Absolutely, no problem.” That level of professionalism and empathy turned a long, frustrating day into a great, restful ending. Because of him, I was able to get the rest I needed and show up fully for my son at his tournament. Small acts matter. Customer service like that is why I’ll be back.

Check-in went well, but the room was not to standard. There was urine on the toilet seat and hair on the bed sheet. Thankfully, I had my sleeping bag.

The room was very clean and in a great location near the beach and freeway access. This place is probably the best deal in the area. Staff are friendly people. I'll be going back when I'm in the area.
