I’ve been going to this pub for years now and I’ve always loved it and thoroughly enjoyed myself everytime I visited, that was until the old manager left and everything went downhill after the new manager started. I visited the other night about 7pm, went to the bar, got a drink, sat at my table, had a couple sips of my drink and then proceeded to go to the toilet, while I was in the toilet doing my business a stranger started banging on my door (which obviously gave me a fright) asking if I was being sick, I can understand why she would have thought that as I have a chest infection at the minute and my cough sounds horrendous it sounded like I was being sick but I wasn’t, but why on earth is a stranger banging on my toilet door in the first place? A bit of privacy and peace would have been ideal and I wouldn’t have been sick as I only had a couple of sips of my drink, I was completely sober at this point. Everything was fine until about 9pm when the manageress decided to tell the male bar staff that was working behind the bar to refuse me drink as she said I had been sick? (Obviously referring to earlier in the toilet) male bar staff and manageress wouldn’t even let me explain myself, explaining to them that I hadn’t been sick and the male bar staff was having none of it, wouldn’t listen to a word I said, so rude and abrupt - both of them! didn’t believe me, refused me service even though they had literally been serving me all night with no issues? Absolutely ridiculous. So I basically got refused for absolutely nothing! I bought two drinks just before getting refused, if I was that bad why would the male bar staff sit and watch me drink them and allow me to drink them if I was “that bad” 😂 not a way to treat a customer, especially one that’s a regular from the area that has supported the pub for so long! Avoid all costs.

Back in Carnoustie after a long time. Popped into the Kinloch with my friend for a pint and a toasty at 3:00pm. “Toasty? don’t do them after 3:00” was the bar and kitchens response. No bar snacks other than vinegar crisps; Watched the chef potter about the kitchen till we left an hour later. One of the other patrons offered to nip home and make us a sandwich himself! Customer service? No concept in the Kinloch!

We often come here for lunch or dinner with our dog. It can get very busy at the weekends, but service is always quick and food is good. My only concern is I wish the chef would wear a cover over his beard, his food is excellent, but watching him bending over the cooker with his beard over the food is really off putting

Visited here for lunch with our toddler grandson. The service was very good and staff were friendly but the food was strictly average. Most disappointing was the macaroni which was possibly the worst Ive had in a very long time.

Top notch dinner tonight. My friend and I popped in having had a recommendation from a family member. I had the (huge fish cake) my pal had haggis Bon bons. Filled by a huge breast of chicken wrapped in Parma Ham. Very tasty. We didn’t have room for pudding unfortunately. I’m glad we ate here rather than The big hotel, where we are staying. Really enjoys talking to Rob the owner. It’s good to keep it local and ensure that small businesses are supported. I’ll be back without a doubt. Please do pay a visit, clearly they are working hard and doing their bit to give you a very nice experience. Well done Rob and staff.

We have just been to the Kinloch Hotel in Carnoustie for lunch. Absolutely beautiful. You felt at home as you entered and staff really friendly. Between us we had steak pie with all the trimmings and salt and pepper chicken burger. The girl offered water for our wee staffie Misty which was well received and when the chef himself brought our food out, he offered a sausage for our dog ( which he cut up for her) he was very friendly also. On Friday 18th August they will open their new restaurant, " No 29 " next door. My husband and I wish you all at Kinloch Hotel all the very best with this new venture. Thank you Agnes and Callum
