The hotel is located opposite the castle, but it is not in the ancient city. Although the straight-line distance is only a few hundred meters, the security situation is too different. The hotel is surrounded by local residential areas and there are large supermarkets, but the security situation is a bit complicated. We had a wonderful time at San Lázaro Hotel. The staff was super friendly and took care of us from beggining to end. The rooms were super clean. We will return for sure!!!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It’s a smaller, boutique-style property that still offers all the amenities you need. The rooftop terrace provides beautiful views overlooking San Felipe Castle, making it a perfect spot to relax. The beds and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and the rooms were spotless and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent, with both buffet and à la carte options available. The hotel is located about a 5-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Cartagena’s Getsemaní district, which was ideal for us—close enough to enjoy the action, yet far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. We would definitely stay here again
