Placid Village

Probably into double figures of stays at Placid Village: we love it! The staff are unobtrusive, friendly and cannot do enough for us. It is clean & tidy, well equipped and competitively priced. It is surrounded by nice, privately occupied expensive villas & casas. It is a fair (30 minute) walk to both Carvoeiro Square/ beach & a very comprehensive supermarket- Intermarche that is open long hours, every day. The walk is not flat so without a car, it is more suited to the fit & healthy, however, the company can easily accommodate the less able/ wheelchair users (I believe that there are "adapted" units on the site. The pool is medium sized & unheated but there is plenty of room & sun loungers for those sun worshippers. The Algarvian climate is consistently 10 degrees centigrade higher than at home (Yorkshire), so February feels spring like, with the beautiful flowers in the well kept gardens nearby already coming into bloom. Watch out for the rare Hoopoe & the colourful European Magpie & listen out for the owls at night. It is a great place for those wanting a lovely quiet break from our busy lives. A (not so) hidden gem.

Lovely stay close to the beach and town center. Large grocery store was just a few minutes drive from the apartment. The apartment was clean and spacious. The front desk welcoming and friendly! Will definitely recommend and hope to stay in future travels !

We’ve been to Placid village 3 times now and it doesn’t disappoint. This is why we book time and time again. It is very clean and spacious. See you next time ☀️🏖️🇵🇹

Large room with small bedroom. Location good and peaceful but you need to be able to walk up and downhill to and from the town. Breakfast adequate. Nice balcony spoilt by the most uncomfortable chairs ever. Reception recommended a cave boat trip that turned into a nightmare! Hope you like dogs barking on a regular basis. Had 3 really nice lounge lights but you can only have 2 at a time due to only 2 plug sockets!? Shower handset turned to the left due to the retaining “O” ring missing(repaired with 3 elastic bands). As previously mentioned,the bedroom and bed is much too small which is hard to fathom out due to the size of the rest of the accommodation. Would I stay here again? No.

We stayed at Placid Village for a week in early August, the complex is very welcoming and well maintained, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We always got a sunbed by the pool each day, there is no race in the morning and people come and go all day. I emailed a couple of weeks before our arrival to request an apartment on the top floor with a sea view (admittedly this is in the distance) and that is exactly what we got. We had a 3 bed apartment which was immaculate and very spacious, fully functional kitchen, two balconies, a real home from home and very well thought out. The walk into Carvoeiro takes around 10-15 minutes down the hill and usually got an Uber back up as cheap and plentiful. On the way into the town is a small mini market for essentials but if you want to do a main shop there are several supermarkets in Lagoa, (Intermarche, ALDI, Apolonia, Pingo Doce) which were less than 4euros each way by Uber if you don’t have a car. The only downside was one of the bedrooms had no hanging space of it’s own, just some drawers however there was a large wardrobe in the other two bedrooms and when we arrived nobody was in Reception, there is no call bell so just had to wait for Paulo to check us in which at the time felt like forever after you’ve been travelling for half a day to get there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Placid Village and would definitely return there again.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. The complex and apartment were spotlessly clean and modern. The pool area had a lovely vibe and loungers were always available. The free paddle board court was a bonus and only a 10-15 minute walk to carvoeiro (even with a small child) we would definitely return. The name describes this complex well. We stayed here for 5 nights as a family of 5 . From checking in to departure everything was just perfect . Never a problem to get a bed by the pool at any time of the day . Apartment was lovely and had everything you needed including little terrace . We were lucky as we also had a extra space outside with sofas /chairs open to everyone but we were the only ones who ever used it - perfect for a evening drink watching the sun set . 10 minute walk into town . This place was great value given the prices of other nearby hotels and we would highly recommend it . Thanks for having us Placid Village

Really lovely apartment. Spacious, clean with all mod cons (incl. washing machine and full size dishwasher). Decor is also nice (need to know where to get the Moroccan Style Lamps - love them!). Apartment was cleaned daily. Pool was a good size. Approximately 20/25 minutes from the town by foot....easy walk down, up hill journey back - so be prepared! Town has an array of restaurants and bars, beach was clean. A couple of small food shops on walk to the town. However large supermarkets are a drive / taxi drive away (about €6/€7 one way). If your prone to mosquito bites, make sure you bring spray! Other than that, it's been a lovely break.
