The Albatroz Hotel

The Albatroz Hotel

Cascais|0.53km from city center
Originally booked for Villa Cascais but due to a plumbing prob week before our check in, they booked us with their sister hotel Albatroz. They were very kind to find us accommodations. Some hotels, I am Sure, might not do this. We had a deluxe sea view suite. They booked us in the Palace room across the street. They did offer a room in the building right next to main hotel, which we decided the Palace might be quieter. PROS: Palace room and building were beautiful. Great A/C. Beautiful view of the beach. Had private building concierge. Fantastic deck and I think we may have been only ones in building!!! All the staff, from the front desk to the restaurant, were wonderful. Close to everything in Cascais. Breakfast was fantastic. DRAWBACKS: (dont like the word CONS). The Palace was right next to train station so could hear the announcer frequently. As well as the early morning street sweepers, etc. I am an early riser, but others may not be. It was very warm during our visit and we enjoyed people watching on the beach. But on our 2nd night, a group of people decided to have a party around midnight to 2 - 3 a.m. outside our window. Even when we closed the windows, it was loud. I am sure this does not happen all the time. I would definitely stay here again, but would not choose the Palace building because of my lists. And even with the noise, we survived since we were in Portugal!!!! I know there are other choices along the beach area, but we walked it and this place is truly the best.

Farol Hotel

Farol Hotel

Cascais|0.77km from city center
The thing about ”boutique” hotels is they often have limited rooms with little consistancy between them. Often the hotel is a former mansion or castle that has been converted to create the accomodations. The rooms featured on the website often look amazing but many of the rooms are often former butler's pantries or attic rooms the crazy aunt lived in with alll her cats so you have to be careful when booking. This place has some of that. Had we ended up in a former little closet room in the corner, we would not have been happy here. Fortunately we had booked the designer room with a balcony facing the ocean (210) which was fantastic to enjoy the ocean views. We moved the long bench from in front of the bed onto the balcony during the day to use as a sun lounger. Room was smaller but had tall ceilings and nicely remodeled. Comfy bed and nice bathroom with shower with all kinds of water options plus toilets had heated bidet hose. It is important to know that the pool area is seasonal due to the close proximity to the ocean and doesnt open until mid-April. During much of year it is closed as the North Atlantic waves thrash over the pool area filling it with dirty sea water. The hotel should state this on their homepage to avoid guests feeling a bit misled. I attached some pictures showing the pool area we had without any lounges and water looking like a sewer discharge. The weather we had was sunny and hot yet couldn't use the pool so felt frustrated. I'm a daily lap swimmer so had been hoping to use the pool in the mornings for my swims. The view of the ocean with the crashing waves against the rocks made the stay very relaxing. Also it is a nice short walk to town with wonderful views along the way. Additionally it is a beautiful walk or run to the west along the rock cliffs by the ocean. Truly magical location. The hotel itself was lovely and ecclectic with fun art throughout. Hotel staff was very nice and the included a quality breakfast buffet was tasty and plentiful. We had to leave in the middle of the night for a very early flight out. The manager had take away lunches for us which was a nice touch. We booked the hotel in part because it was part of the AMEX Platinum Hotel collection which comes with some additional benefits if you have the card. We had been to Lisbon many times but so glad we discovered Cascais this time. Certainly will be back.

The Oitavos

The Oitavos

Cascais|3.92km from city center
It was our 3rd stay in The Oitavos and, as usual, we were very satisfied. The hotel has a very special style and we can understand, that not everyone like it but if you like it, you take it and if you don’t like it, you leave it. Each comment on Trip Advisor reflect the subjective opinion of the guest. Negative comments are OK, as long as they are fair. This is not always the case. We feel obliged to give our own opinion in order to relativize some notes we find unfair. Sofie Hildebrandt July 2022: “After having stayed at this hotel every summer for 20 years”, This is not true, because the hotel opened in 2010. Further “the greens are in desperate need of maintenance” maybe in July 2022 but in August 2023 the greens were in a very good stay and very fast. Craig S, July 2023: ” On arrival no one arrived to greet us. We waited for a porter with our bags in the parking area and had to summon attention when the staff were not attending to any guests”. Maybe a special situation; our experience: A porter came immediately on arrival, took our suitcases and golf bags and brought them directly to our room. The lady at the reception was very friendly. SS, July 2023: The all comment is totally unfair. Just an example “the room has strange tvs placed literally like a heartbeat monitor screen in an ER room (not a joke, it’s just truly that odd)”. The TV he mentioned is the small TV near the bed. The room has a bigger screen and “balconies do not face the sea”. Each hotel has different categories of rooms. Our room faced the sea and the view was superb.

Hotel Pestana Cascais Ocean & Conference Aparthotel

Hotel Pestana Cascais Ocean & Conference Aparthotel

Cascais|1.37km from city center
Lovely spacious room with balcony overlooking the marina! The bathroom was a little outdated with no walk-in shower but only a minor point. This is a very large hotel which is part of the renovated 16th century Citadel and can only be accessed by car through the gates and across the square. Unloading of the car can be done outside and the car then parked in an underground secure car park close by. The hotel cannot be accessed from the car park. However, the help given with luggage by the porter was very much appreciated and delivered to the room. This was reversed when we left with the porter again taking all our luggage from the room to the car parked in front. Reception staff were professional. Servicing the room was quite late but when asked the housekeeping staff did there best to clean the room when we returned in the afternoon - they have a lot of rooms to service! Breakfast was lovely on the roof with great views - we were lucky with weather and we were able to sit outside with our dog every morning! Choices were good, and hot food can be ordered; the staff were cheerful and helpful! We used both pools during our stay and the indoor was small but lovely and the outdoor roof top pool was also OK with loungers. The walk to the outdoor pool was lengthy....the walk anywhere inside the hotel can be long depending on where you are located and you can easily lose your way.......however, we found a quick way to the outside opposite the lovely marina with some very good shops and restaurants! The hotel was also a reasonable 15 minutes walk into the lovely town of Cascais with lots of places to eat and drink and shopping!

The staff were so friendly and helpful with the travel advice and ideas of what to do and where to go. The breakfast provided was great!! Surfing activities and yoga classes were available to do which is pretty cool! And on some evenings there was an opportunity to have a freshly cooked meal and drinks (margaritas) with other hostel dwellers (for an additional cost) Shared dormitories, bathrooms and shower rooms were incredibly clean and well maintained! Fully recommend 100% value for money!!

We booked for an overnight stay to see the EDPjazz concert in Cascais. My partner booked it and specified that she needed a low floor as she suffers from vertigo. On arrival we were told we were on the 4 th floor. Oops. Not a good start. The receptionist was very helpful and we said we would leave our case and go for lunch. The replacement room was on the ground floor facing the pool . Unfortunately the smelly rubbish bin with all the cigarettes ash was right in upside the window. The pluses . We had a working fridge ( unfortunately it made a generator noise all night) but the room was clean and beds comfortable. Air con and tv in room. Breakfast was good. Better than some 4 star hotels we have stays in . Would we stay again for a short break, probably yes. Car parking in the street by the hotel was free as some roads in the area were not. Very friendly staff.

A good place for travel and vacation, the surrounding environment is beautiful, you can go to the seaside. The breakfast is plentiful, the rooms are large and the facilities are complete. The front desk service is particularly good, introducing local tourist resources in detail. Need to drive.

I chose to stay at this hotel due to my admiration for its design and decoration. The meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout the entire establishment. The concept strikes a perfect balance, not overly luxurious yet not too understated—a delightful middle ground for those who appreciate it. The ambiance is casual and comfortable, creating a welcoming atmosphere. While the hotel is brand new, offering a modern look and feel, some services are still in the process of getting fully operational. I particularly enjoy the pleasant fragrance inside. I highly recommend the rooftop pool! The panoramic views of the coastline are breathtaking. With sunny and warm weather during my stay, I took the opportunity to plunge into the pool, creating a December experience that felt like summer. A special thanks to certain staff members who have been exceptional, contributing significantly to making my stay more enjoyable. Margarida Madalena Beatriz Carolina Joao And to all the others whose names I didn't have the opportunity to get. Thank and you see you again soon!
