Came here for a couple of nights to play at the golf course. I spent a little more to get a Corner Sea Loft room which was great as it had a wrap around balcony with a massive amount of space, sun loungers etc and a full sea view. Other rooms I thought were strangely positioned and look to have small balconies and side views. Worth upgrading your room here I would say. First impressions, a super cool hotel. Very minimalistic and I can see why some reviewers would not like it all. I loved it though. Walking to my room for the first time was so cool. A huge wide long corridor with just one window at the very end looking straight out to sea. The closer you get the bigger this window gets. Like a really cool art gallery or something you would find in The Tate Modern. My room was enormous and excellent. Only issue was sound from above very audible. High heels, footsteps, scraping furniture etc. Surprised that happens in a newish built modern structure like this. Public areas a wee bit sterile for me. The bar seemed to be part of the restaurant and I wasnt comfortable sitting at it, which is something I always do in a Hotel. For a cool Hotel, they should have a better bar. Dinner was lovely, with an exceptional and knowledgeable sommelier who made super pairings. Staff were absolutely brilliant throughout. Very friendly and helpful and dressed immaculately. The only thing I did not like here was the breakfast. A let down and poor. One juice (concentrate?) no butter for toast, filter coffee (yuk) and a poor coffee machine that appeared to make espresso only. Eggs to order but little information on options? Omelettes? who knows. I got two poached eggs. Both came hard boiled, and had to be eaten with dry toast as no butter available. I didn't even bother with breakfast the day I left as its so poor. Seemed to be lots of cold meats and cheese about if thats your thing, it's not mine early in the morning. Cold cheese for breakfast is all wrong :-)

driving up the road and arriving to this spectacular futuristic spaceship. what an amazing modern design with minimalism in mind. truly beautiful space not just indoor but the outdoors as well. i have to say the food was very good not just in their main restaurant but especially at the outdoor place at the pool - great place to have lunch with spectacular views. we played golf and having such amazing place to decompress, is fantasy. i would like to send big thank you to the sommelier Luis R. - your personal touch with sharing your knowledge of local wines is very much appreciated. you made our stay that much enjoyable by making our wine tasting experience richer. we would like to thank to golf hotel check in guys for making our golf rounds perfect.

The staff was super nice extremely friendly and highly accommodating. The hotel itself wasn’t a 5 star hotel at least as ranked alongside a North American standard or even France or England. At a 5star attention to detail is what is measured because the basics are covered otherwise they would be a 3 or 4 star. During every breakfast they ran out of coffee at the coffee station, normally not a big deal but then it would take 10-15 min to bring a new coffee pot. The self serve espresso machine was only half functional, the bread oven was not working a couple days, bowls for the cereal bar where scarce running out multiple times leaving people searching around thinking they just couldn’t see them when in fact they had just run out 10min ago and nobody replaced them. I’m using the breakfast example to exemplify my total experience across multiple interactions. I happened to be there during a very windy and rainy few days. Again, staff was very friendly but the physical property to me, the entire hotel including my room felt very sterile.

It was our 3rd stay in The Oitavos and, as usual, we were very satisfied. The hotel has a very special style and we can understand, that not everyone like it but if you like it, you take it and if you don’t like it, you leave it. Each comment on Trip Advisor reflect the subjective opinion of the guest. Negative comments are OK, as long as they are fair. This is not always the case. We feel obliged to give our own opinion in order to relativize some notes we find unfair. Sofie Hildebrandt July 2022: “After having stayed at this hotel every summer for 20 years”, This is not true, because the hotel opened in 2010. Further “the greens are in desperate need of maintenance” maybe in July 2022 but in August 2023 the greens were in a very good stay and very fast. Craig S, July 2023: " On arrival no one arrived to greet us. We waited for a porter with our bags in the parking area and had to summon attention when the staff were not attending to any guests”. Maybe a special situation; our experience: A porter came immediately on arrival, took our suitcases and golf bags and brought them directly to our room. The lady at the reception was very friendly. SS, July 2023: The all comment is totally unfair. Just an example “the room has strange tvs placed literally like a heartbeat monitor screen in an ER room (not a joke, it’s just truly that odd)”. The TV he mentioned is the small TV near the bed. The room has a bigger screen and “balconies do not face the sea”. Each hotel has different categories of rooms. Our room faced the sea and the view was superb.

Located in the Oitavos Park, I was pretty amazed to find such a massive and luxurious hotel. Everything is huge. The lobby, the hallways, the rooms and the terrace that each room has. The views are great, breakfast is amazing, service is impeccible, the spa is everything that you'd want and the outdoor pool is a lot of fun. I was at the Oitavos to play golf with friends and if this is your thing, there are loads of golf courses nearby with one of them ON the grounds. The immediate area has great restaurants and both Cascais and Estoril are a short taxi ride away. No cheap but worth the spend!

I just had a small bite with one glass of wine at the outside pool restaurant. 33.50 euros totally overpriced even for a 5 star hotel. The dressing supposed to have anjovies couldn’t taste it parmezaan was also missing. 8 euros for one glass of wine 12 cl that’s in sane. After all we are in Portugal

Having traveled throughout Portugal over the past 10 years and stayed at more than 20 x 5 star hotels i this is the first time I’ve ever written a negative response. On arrival no one arrived to greet us. We waited for a porter with our bags in the parking area and had to summon attention when the staff were not attending to any guests. When I walked into the lobby on arrival with a warm greeting and smile the staff behind the counter ignored me and kept their heads down with no greeting. I then personally called out Maria saying this was a very nice way to be welcomed by a 5 star hotel to which she replied she was busy with an email. (there were no other guests being tended to). I would describe the hotel as somewhat depressing, there is no ambience, the dining areas feel somewhat like a cold dormitory hospital setup. (we have wanted to escape this experience from the moment of arrival). Our rate charged of Euro 942 per night for a family of 4 is frankly a joke from a value for money perspective for this establishment. Just within the surrounding area we’ve stayed at other 5 star hotels all whom do Portugal proud, not the Oitavos. Some examples I would recommend We have stayed at the Albatroz, Penha Longa, Villa Italia, Guincho Castle, the Sheraton We asked to check out within hours of arrival but the GM Miguel Montez Champalimaud was apparently out of town and not willing to take a call, to date after several emails he still hasn’t had the courtesy to call me after several requests. All he states is he feels he has a great hotel and we signed the terms and conditions, I can only assume this is not his first complaint. The GM offered to move us to a suite but clearly he’s not in touch with what a 5 star offering should offer. He then penalized us a further night even though we checked out within less than 18 hours of arrival. We suggested we would check out with paying our first night (as he didn’t take / respond) on our initial request to check out within 4 hours of arriving. The hotel was no where near full occupancy, no wonder. Disgusting experience from a poor establishment. Do your research before making any plans to visit Oitavos.
