Hilton Cardiff

Castle|0.46km from Bute Library
We stayed at the Hilton Cardiff for four days at the end of March 2023. We really enjoyed our stay! The people at reception made us feel very welcomed, and couldn’t have been nicer! ALL of the people who work here were extremely friendly and helpful. We wanted to give a special thank you to Mark, the night manager. He was always cheerful - at the beginning AND at the end of his shift in the morning, which is not easy! He even kindly got us a bucket of ice very early one morning when my wife hurt her knee as she was stepping out of bed and the bed rolled away from her. We spoke to Mark about the incident, and hopefully, by now, they have fixed the “rolling coasters with no brakes on the box springs” problem. Mark was so kind and concerned about her fall that he checked on her twice - right after the incident and even the next day, which was the last day of our stay. The breakfast buffet had an excellent variety of hot and cold food offerings and was maintained to perfection by the attentive and efficient staff! The buffet was hosted by Bassam, who was very personable and interesting to talk with. The executive lounge was lovely, with beverages and a few snacks available throughout the day. There is an evening manager’s reception and some savory finger foods were offered each night. Our room had a stunning view of Cardiff Castle and the castle grounds! We would happily return to Hilton Cardiff, and we thank them for making our stay really memorable and pleasant. As a side note, we took the Cardiff Castle Ghost Tour and highly recommend it! It’s great to be able to tour the castle at night, and the two hosts were full of fun facts and historical information about the beautiful and “over the top” decor of the castle!

Holiday Inn Cardiff City Centre

Stopped at Holiday Inn Cardiff from Friday to Sunday to see the speedway at principality stadium. Hotel was perfect location for us. Easy to park at the hotel which was an added bonus as at other hotels we’ve had to park at NCPs. Rooms were good and spotlessly clean. The air conditioning worked extremely well and was a nice change from the heatwave outside! Hotel was very quiet which was surprising given how busy it was. Had breakfast both mornings, which had a good choice with the buffet being topped up regularly. Despite being an extremely busy weekend we were seated instantly and didn’t have to wait for the buffet top ups. The only thing letting the hotel down and giving a reduction in rating was reception. The receptionists came across very cold and did not display the “true hospitality” which we usually see at IHG hotels. Did not feel welcomed at all. The coldness and abruptness was felt at both check in and check out by different staff.
Ibis Cardiff Centre Hotel

The hotel is located in the city of Cardiff, 400 meters from the commercial center and less than one kilometer from the castle. World chain hotels, standardized management, a hundred times stronger than the old hotels in the UK, the price is not expensive in advance. First choice abroad.
The Royal Hotel Cardiff

The hotel is in a good location, right in the city centre, a 10-minute walk from the train station. However, there is a bar downstairs, which will be a bit noisy at night, but it does not affect sleep. The hotel is clean and recommended.

Stayed for three nights as a getaway after Christmas. We travelled by train and the hotel was fairly easy to find, about 10-15 minutes walk from the station. The check-in was quick and painless and we were given a room on the 8th floor of this 10-floor hotel so the room was quiet away from the street noise. We didn't eat in the hotel, mainly because the choice of food didn't suit our tastes and we wanted to sample food in the neighbouring restaurants. The Main Street is only about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and St. David's Shopping Mall is about the same distance. The room was clean and comfortable and we would have had a great night's sleep if it hadn't been for the fact that the room was cold, despite turning the heating control up to its maximum of 30 degrees! We were surprised that there was no telephone in the room and were amazed that, despite knowing that two people were booked into the room for three nights, the management had only provided one bath towel and one hand towel. On our way out on the first morning we attempted to ask for additional towels at reception but couldn't find anyone until I went into the restaurant and asked if anyone was available in Reception. Despite these small issues, we would return mainly due to the great location.

We arrived a bit early and were able to leave our luggage in the storage room and we received a ticket for this which was good. Our room was really comfortable and there was ample space to hang up my dresses. The bathroom was a good size and there was a bath. We were on the railway station side but with the window closed, you could barely hear them. The bed was comfortable. The staff were really kind and helpful. You could hear people coming back into their rooms and unlocking their doors which could be a bit disconcerting but overall I really liked the hotel. Easy to walk to the main stations and along the river.
Travelodge Cardiff Central Queen Street

Until 2010 I travelled around a lot for work and had many visits to Cardiff including staying a few days in this beautiful City. Anyway, hadn't stayed in the Travelodge Cardiff Central Queen Street despite it being round the corner from the office building I was based in at the time. ”Round the corner” is pretty much how I would sum up staying at Cardiff Central Queen Street. Travelodge hotels are pretty similar to each other but this very central location for visiting the city is just absolutely brilliant. Would happily stay here again.
