Best Hotels in Cedar Lake

I witnessed hotel management at Staybridge in Schererville Ind. giving a party of 10-15 people a hassle. A black guest had a room and patronized the hotel often when in town, asked someone if she can have guest watch a movie in the hotel's theater room. She was given permission by someone prior to today. The lady now has guest in the room quietly waiting for everyone to come from the restroom to get the movie started. There was no food, no talking or anything, when mgmt asked the people to leave. The guest was pleading with mgmt at a low tone but mgmt was loud enough for guest to hear everything,to the point she embarrassed the women in front of her guest. The guest (in bewilderment) were leaving when the police showed up for no reason. No one was yelling or giving them a hard time. So, I don't understand why they called the police. The issue with this story is, the hotel assumed the guest was having a party. They were about to watch a movie in the movie room. The guest witnessed a caucasian family have a reserved party at the same hotel around Thanksgiving with food and everything. Which is why the guest asked if she can use the space at a later date. So, how can a hotel allow a reserved space for an actual party one day (when it's not policy) but not allow guest to use a theater room to watch a movie the next day? What was supposed to be a good time of fellowship turned to something else. The black guest checked out as well as a result. Who wants to pay for discrimination and mistreatment? Very sad to witness.... Merry Christmas!

This is our go-to motel when staying in Northwest Indiana. Welcoming lobby area where everything is spotless and tidy. Halls and vending areas were well maintained. Our room was very clean and refreshed daily during our week stay. A/C unit was one of the quietest we've experience in a long time. No grumbling and rumbling every time it turned on. Room lighting was good, towel and linens were more than nice, very good mattress and room seating. No complaints at all. Front desk was always friendly and helpful. Whenever we saw staff at the desk they always took time to smile and say hello. Jay took care of us at check-in and was extremely kind and outgoing, a great personality for this position. We met Tina taking care of the breakfast area and had a nice conversation with her, very personable. Breakfast always included hot items like eggs and sausage/bacon as well as a waffle maker. Plenty of fruit, cereal, yogurts, muffins and always presented well. Area is kept spotless. After driving 10 hours to get home to GA, my wife realized she left her prized make-up mirror behind in our room. She contacted Ash the next day who quickly confirmed the oversight on our part and was more than happy to box up the item and send it to our home. So extremely kind! I may be missing a few names (David and Kendall? and others) but everyone was so nice. This motel may not a fancy pool but it has everything one needs for a comfortable stay, the most important to us is being a kind, friendly staff, clean, comfortable accommodations and a nice breakfast to start the day. It's in a great area for restaurants and shopping, pretty much anything you need. Well lit parking area, always a safe feeling. Will stay here again in the future, high recommend you give them a try.

Well upon arrival the hotel clerk “Female Sam”, couldn’t mangage to check us in. We had 5 rooms booked and had an issue with one of the rooms, that because I booked with Booking.com. Sam had no idea what she was doing and simply left it to us to figure out by contacting booking, but as it did turn out it was an issue on the hotel part to resolve with booking.com. After about at least a hour it was definitely resolved between hotel and booking.com as I tried to tell Sam in the beginning. This girl had No skills what so ever to handle her job, which made a frustrating start to our 1 night there which we were trying to get to a 90th birthday party. The room was not bad, but BRING your own pillows for theirs are flat and useless. The noise through the night past midnight was continuous, screams banging on the walls and running down the hallways till at least 2AM. And the morning after we had to deal with what smelled of dirty diapers in the hallways to the elevator. So Good Luck, but never a choice hotel for again!!

Hotel is Very clean, friendly staff, comfortable beds… pillows are like clouds! We travel a lot, I usually stay at a Hampton inn, and I am extremely impressed and satisfied with this hotel and its staff. Best breakfast included with any stay. I have to say…. I wish I would have stayed here sooner! Highly recommended by this very picky traveler.

This place has potential. But for the price I can’t really complain. Plus, it helps that the bed is actually really comfortable!

I was very impressed with the staff, particularly a woman named colleen...I NEVER take the time to leave reviews but this girl deserves it... my husband and I had to rush out of town for a family emergency and on our way back we were exhausted to say the least and falling asleep in the car after a 16 hour drive, let me just say this young lady took one look at us and just knew we hanging on by a thread she got us checked in and taken care of in such a timely manner and was warm and welcoming, made us laugh and helped us with food delivery recommendations in the area even Googled and wrote down the number for us as our phones were dead and we were not ready to dig through our car for our buried chargers, we appreciated her more than we can say after a very rough weekend she made us feel at home and relieved some of the heavy weight off our shoulders it truly felt like she was a friend.

On a business trip with my dad, I passed by here for one night. Usually I like to have a kitchen when I live in a hotel. It is very convenient whether it is to drink or drink hot food. The kitchen of this hotel is very large, and the tableware is rich. Although it is not very dare to use during the epidemic, at least it has everything 😂 The location of the hotel is good for this small place. Once opened, the door room is indeed very large and very clean. The front desk service attitude is also good. High cost performance, recommended.

Sean at the front desk started my day in a great way! He started with a sincere compliment about liking my glasses and we chatted for about 3 or 4 mins. It is so nice to have friendly people at front. I stay here at least 5-6 times a year! Always going back. Even my co-worker said there is a new Hampton closer to where i need to be but I want my points and I always stay here because of the people. Thank u Marriott Merrillville for being the customer friendly hotel on which I can count!
