Chania|0.09km from Old Venetian Port of Chania
You’ll walk up 50 marble steps; elevators are forbidden in Old Town. You’ll have trouble finding taxis; streets are pedestrian-only. You’ll talk with Reception by phone and email. Your reward will be one of the most magical balconies in Greece, at the top of Chania’s Old Venetian Harbor. We booked the 4th floor One-Bedroom Suite at the Elia Estia Erato building of Elia Hotels and loved every minute. Elia Hotels Group has renovated historic buildings around Chania into over 20 boutique hotels and apartments. It’s not the Ritz, but you can get that in the US. In Greece, the glitches are worth it to experience Chania up close. Old Venetian Harbor doesn’t just glitter like a storybook–it is a storybook, with more history than anything Disney could imagine. On the stairway landing was a full set of knight's armor (photo). Our balcony had a panoramic view of colorful baroque buildings, dramatic fortresses, an historic mosque and the medieval lighthouse–all reflecting in the harbor at sunset and at night (photos, video). Below us around the harbor were two dozen fine seaside restaurants. In walking distance were huge 16th century monuments to explore and beaches with even more great restaurants. Mr. Antonis Yiakoumakis, Ms. Despina Liakou, and Ms. Maria at Elia Zampeliou Hotel Reception a few streets away (which was our Reception Desk), helped us so much! They showed why Crete is famous for hospitality–even when coping with historic buildings. Historic buildings, for example, don’t have a lot of furniture. There were no drawers for clothing, no place to put modern clam-shell luggage. But when we asked for a luggage stand, they somehow got a large extra table up 3 flights of stairs for us. When I needed smaller bills, Mr. Yiakoumakis personally took me and my 50 Euro bill door to door among local tavernas as waiters whizzed by with heavy trays, until we found a cashier with change. The ambiance was superb, the local food is fantastic, and most important, the people are wonderful. If you need anything, call or email; they answer quickly. When we asked for a few extra towels, we got a weeks’ worth. When the city tore up a nearby street, Ms. Despina personally escorted us to and from our building. Need something? Just ask! :)

First of all, l will get the negative points out, which are not alot, only 3 small points. 1 was the bathroom....very small, we had to stand in the shower to be able to close the door when entering the bathroom as there wasnt enough room to move around ! 2nd the tv kept losing the stations, therefore, we could not watch any tv. And lastly, the ”dressing table” had the mirror so high, l had to sit on 2 pillows to be able to see myself (and l am not a short person !) But as for the rest .......The enormous bed gave us the best sleeps ever, it was a spacious room, very quiet as we did not have a seaview, which suited our mood fine ! The breakfast was at the hotel nearly next door, and had a very luxurious breakfast on offer from fresh fruit to fried eggs......fresh bakery items lots of choices. The girl behind the counter l think Constandina was extremely helpful. she even made us a breakfast bag as the day we were leaving was very early, which we found very considerate of them. In all, it was a very pleasant experience

Fantastic room in boiserie with views on the Venetian port of Chania. Super courteous staff. Very central location in the ZTL, taxis do not arrive there and a walk with baggage must be taken into account, although at arrival it was told me that the hotel offers a reception service at the taxi post and baggage transportation.

If you book a room with a balcony facing the sea lighthouse, your trip to Chania will be halfway through. The experience is great. Breakfast is delivered to the room and can be enjoyed on the terrace. The room is very large, but it may not be an extra bed. I have not asked. Parking must stop at the parking lot outside the old city, it is a bit inconvenient, but there is no way

This lovely hotel is on a pedestrian side street running parallel to the harbour 20m away. The location could not be better. The staff are so helpful. Breakfast is outside at the little cafe beside the front door... We went to bed with the window open and the street was lively, we closed to the window and were in silence... The staff are so friendly and helpful, we arrived on a very early flight and our room not surprisingly was not available 9AM. They took our luggage and said they would telephone as soon as the room was ready. They did a couple hours later and we arrived back to have the room ready, our bags in it along with a small bottle of sparkling wine...

We stayed here on our first time visit to Crete and it did not disappoint! The hotel is in the heart of the Old Town and a few feet from a plethora of restaurants and shops! The hotel is situated in front of the harbor that is buzzing with people and activities. Our room had an amazing sea view! We could not get enough of the gorgeous view! Our room was well-sized and pretty. The hotel staff were very attentive and accommodating. The included breakfast was generous and included traditional Cretan fare with fruits, pastries, eggs, assorted breads, etc., Neo Chora beach is walking distance from the hotel. We spent an enjoyable time on this quiet beach. I would stay here again and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel!
