Le Jardin Cathedrale

Nice room and welcome. Good shower and comfortable bed. Kettle, coffee and tea in room, but no TV. Good location near town center. Payment due in cash. But check-in doesn’t start until 5pm, when we learned that bfst was to be served at 9am. At breakfast we learned that checkout was at 10am. Breakfast was a standard French breakfast, but small croissant, small pain au chocolat, small portion of bread, small coffee and juice, fruit bowl, yogurt, and confitures, served at a very large table. Since we had only an hour, departure was rushed, and my wife fell in the parking area, trying to get out of the way of the owner hurrying out to remove the nearby dog poop. Uneven pavers in courtyard/parking area were a tripping hazard. Traffic was bad getting there.

I read the negative review complaining about stairs, luggage difficulties and bizarrly a minimal breakfast. Clearly some folk don't know the difference between a B&B and Full service Hotel! This charming B&B has delightful and tastefully decorated rooms, it's quiet and very comfortable, close to town and with free parking on site. Our host was charming, spoke perfect English and served up a delicious continental breakfast with quality products delightfully presented. We highly rate and recommend this place. The venue is clean and well maintained and the owner/hostess is pleasant and accommodating. Also the location is reasonably convenient so walking to restaurants and attraction is easy. Still, it’s a B&B so it lacks hotel services. Our room was attractive but inconvient, making it difficult to manage 2 suitcases. Staircase to our room was circular and difficult to manage with luggage. There was no soundproofing and the included breakfast was minimal. Our impression was that you could do much better for the price. There was off-street parking.

What a wonderful place to stay while visiting Chartres. Our hosts couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. The accommodation is definitely five star. It is within walking distance to the centre of Chartres. This B&B is very highly recommend.

A delightful place to stay, very close to the centre of Chartres, in a quiet residential street. The room was well-appointed and very comfortable. Dominique was a charming hostess, very welcoming, offering a lot of helpful information about the beautiful city (go and see the city light show). Good breakfast. Parking available.
