The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu

The room was spotless, and the service was absolutely top-notch—truly the best hotel service I've ever experienced. When I mentioned I wasn't used to the pillows, they immediately sent up both a latex and a memory foam option. The front desk staff even addressed me by my surname the moment I called. Plus, the room rate was very reasonable. Highly recommend staying here!

This was my first stay at a Ritz property. When I booked, Dinah from central reservations was incredibly patient and helpful, answering all my questions and addressing my concerns – a huge thank you to her. I booked an executive floor room, which included executive lounge access with five meals a day: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and cocktail hour. Despite the sheer volume of offerings, there was absolutely no skimping on quality. Each meal featured two dishes freshly prepared by a chef on-site, which is quite rare for executive lounge benefits at other hotels, and the quality was impeccable. The executive lounge staff were also exceptionally warm and welcoming; they always greeted me with a smile and remembered my preferences. A special thank you to Vicky, who took extra good care of me 🙏. Overall, every department in the hotel was incredibly friendly and polite, which again is not something you often see at other hotels. All in all, it was a fantastic experience 👍

I stayed for two nights in an Executive Room at The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu, and enjoyed the executive privileges. The hotel lobby is on the 25th floor, offering expansive views. The front desk staff provided smiling service throughout the check-in process. The Ritz-Carlton's service is definitely trustworthy. The dining was excellent, with a rich variety of dishes, including local Sichuan specialties.

This was by far the worst experience I've had at any Marriott Group hotel in China. Let's start with check-in. I went to check in after 3:30 PM, and the front desk told me it would be about ten minutes for the room card. Then came the long wait. The lobby on the 25th floor was chaotic, seemingly with a tour group, and no one from the hotel was trying to maintain order. So I waited and waited. After about half an hour, seeing no one bringing my room card, I proactively went to the front desk to ask. They had actually forgotten about me! I tolerated it. They then directed me to another counter and told me to wait another five minutes, so I continued waiting. After ten more minutes, my local friend who was with me, couldn't take it anymore and blew up, and then we finally got the room card. Next, I got to the room, and my jaw dropped. The facilities were old and simply not worth the price. The access panel under the bathtub wouldn't close, and a an indescribable smell was coming from inside. As for breakfast, while the variety was decent, the quality was actually worse than some four-star hotels. For a hotel in Chengdu, shouldn't there be more local Chengdu breakfast specialties? The 'feichang mian' (pig intestine noodles) felt like they were reheating leftovers that no one had taken before, and putting them back in the pot for guests. The fatty bits in the intestines weren't even properly removed. The taste was truly awful, to say the least; it felt like I was eating raw large intestine. The disposable slippers at this hotel? I dare say many economy hotels have better ones than your Ritz-Carlton Chengdu! I will never stay here again. I'm genuinely scared away!

Compared to other Ritz-Carlton hotels I've stayed at across the country, the one in Chengdu feels a bit older, and it's also the most affordable. Naturally, the breakfast and executive lounge offerings are more limited with fewer choices, not as refined as at other Ritz-Carltons. However, I still commend the service.
