A lot of things to say about this place. First, for context, we booked during Golden Week, so there were not many hotel choices left unless you booked far in advance.
The reception was okay, with someone available 24/7. They also have WeChat for communication. The location is very good: you have plenty of buses to go to the city center, and you can also bike there in around 20 minutes. There are also several restaurant options nearby for the evening.
As for the rest, we booked a non-smoking option, but the first one we were given smelled very strongly of cigarettes. We got another one and it was better. By the way, I don’t really understand why they sell “non-smoking” accommodation when there is an ashtray in every unit. Also, keep in mind that some face the road directly, so it can get noisy if you open the window.
Housekeeping was very minimal, mostly just replacing water bottles and taking out the trash. Not that we need fresh bedsheets every day, but every other hotel we visited in China at least made the bed and changed the towels regularly. Here, we had to ask for it. They were also not replacing the toilet paper rolls unless requested, and the rolls themselves were extremely small.
The mattress was extremely hard, honestly one of the hardest we have experienced. We traveled a lot in Japan for example, where firm beds are standard, and we never had a mattress that hard. We even requested an additional duvet to put on top of it. Not ideal, especially for a 6-night stay.
The staff was generally friendly and pretty easy to approach. There is a washing machine on the rooftop; it’s a bit funky to use because it’s semi-automatic, but still a very useful amenity. The reception also provided laundry powder.
The general cleanliness of the hotel was okay, but there were a lot of yellow cigarette stains on the curtains, and the bathroom would require a deep clean. Some parts looked moldy, and the window area was full of limescale.
If you have no other choice and only stay 2–3 nights, why not, we have stayed in much worse hotels. But don’t expect anything amazing; the pictures make the hotel look a lot better than it actually is.
