When we arrived, we loved the old school feeling of this hotel. We cannot remember the last time we had a for real room key. The stairway was at a bit of an angle, but easily traversed. We loved our room when we entered it. Note-it was daytime. After we had been out, returning at night-well, it had a different affect. After walking the stairway, it was disconcerting to see others directly outside the rooms smoking tobacco and ???. We had to walk past them, trying not to inhale, in order to get to our room. It had rained hard that day. I was cold and eager for a hot bath. Oh my goodness! The ceiling was leaking in two places! We could not use the toilet without a drip, drip from above. Upon leaving, we took our key to the front office, informing the person at the front of the desk. He said, “I knew one of them leaked. I did not know about that one.” No expression of concern for our discomfort. For sure - no offer of any type of compensation. The daytime charm did not offset the evening environment, the leaky ceiling, nor the indifference expressed.
