Had a lovely midday meal here with my family today. Lovely friendly pub. Perfect atmosphere and excellent genuinely friendly service. We sat by the cozy open fireplace on comfy seating. The cheeseburger and chips, lasagna and the sausage and mash could not be fairly faulted. The lasagna is in the British/Italian fusion style (cheddar cheese baked on top in a cheesy chew style and very low on the Italian herb seasoning). For me and my wife personally, for it to be 100% perfect for our taste, it needed a little more Italian herb flavour. But that said, many English palates would prefer it exactly as it is. The sausage and mash was very good indeed. Highly recommended. Very good beer too.

This used to be excellent for food, but it is awful, the fish and chips were disgusting, the oil used for cooking needs a change. £17.95 for a a plate of grease, they are having a laugh, beer nowhere near as good, something is definitely lacking in this pub, which used to be a gem.

Came on recommendation of a friend who said the food was great (pre-covid) - crikey the chef/supplier must have changed as the quality was incredibly poor all round. Pub and staff were great but the food is atrocious especially for the money. Would avoid eating but have a drink and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

The room was big enough for two days, but for a longer stay it was to small

A great pub atmosphere beautifully clean rooms. Mandy and her team were very helpful, looking after us well. An early breakfast was organised for us on the Saturday morning as they knew that we would need to be out early. Will be back next year.

Excellent Burns Supper at The Old Poets Corner. A big thank you to Mandy and all the staff for perfectly executed evening and of course the enigmatic Kim Beresford for the best address to the haggis we’ve ever witnessed !! The evenings food was all fantastic (particularly the haggis) and considering it was a sold out event it was all served with speed and professionalism. Thanks All 😎.

Went for Burns night with a group of friends. Several of us had to wait for our food, steaks not cooked to requirements (undercookef, bloody). One party member's food order had been forgotten. Terrible fiasco when it came to paying. Was overcharged. No deposits were refunded or offset against bill. We have all said we will never return. The best part of the night was the bagpipes. This review is written on behalf of a gentlemen who doesn't do technolgy.
