Hotels in Chiang Khong Reviews

The hotel is right next to the Mekong River. There are a few teak trees in the garden, which may be named after it. The room is a villa type, and the room on the other side of the river can be overlooked by the balcony. The front desk and the waiter are very polite. The hotel has an infinity pool, but unfortunately the trip has not had time to try. The hotel has free use of bicycles and a good way to explore the town by bike. Going out is a quiet town shop, eating ATMs. The only downside is that there are no toiletries, and there are mosquitoes and ants in the room.

Little home away from home in the jungle. Restaurant upstairs with amazing (appropriately spicy!) food, excellent host, and great location, right next to the river. Fall asleep to the sounds of the crickets, and be greeted by two friendly cats in the morning. Would love to visit again!

Chiang Khong was our last stop before crossing to Laos and all we wanted was a bed for the night. Sleeping Well was about 15 minutes walk from where the bus dropped us from Chiang Rai. Chiang Khong is not a big place, pretty much one street so you can walk the length of it in 20 minutes or so. We paid just over £20 for a double bed. We had to climb 2 flights of stairs to our room with all the luggage on our backs. That's fine with us but it may be worth checking if they have a lift in case you are not comfortable with that. The room was really nice and bright, pretty firm bed but we didn't mind it. The bathroom was more of a wet room but again it was fine with us. The breakfast wasn't included in the price but they have a restaurant if you do want breakfast, it opens at 7 am and we got eggs and bagel plus coffee.

Room # 304 The owners are very warm and welcoming. Instead of the usual Thai dogs greeting you on arrival with a bark two young ladies ran out to meet us, with big smiles and insisted on carrying our bags. That is where the good part of this stay ended. We had booked a Bedroom with a large Bed ( I had requested a King bed ) At check in the lady stated she was going to give our room to another guest and told us she would give us 2 x Single beds pushed together - NOT ACCEPTABLE. She did eventually agree to give us the room we had booked and were paying for! Room # 304 SMELT MUSTY & DAMP - It was unpleasant and most likely very UNHEALTHY to stay in. The sink in the Bathroom did NOT DRAIN AWAY. The Toilet leaked water right across the Bathroom floor. The Internet was CRAP - Connect & Disconnect, Up and Down, Slow and Freezing The house cleaning maid had left Someone else's OLD SOAP on the RIM of the BATH ( photo supplied ) The bath was Dirty ( has not been cleaned ) Everything felt Grubby and Dirty in the room. Mosquito nets are damaged with gaping holes. Breakfast was adequate the next morning. Mekong views were just average. What else can I say - best book somewhere different. It may have been wow 2 or 3 years ago - but obviously standards have been allowed to slip......
