Arriving here after a long travel day was like seeing an oasis, the large white gates and hotel staff greeted us - taking our bags and directing us where to sign in - all in a very quiet setting (the hotel is always quiet - very little outside noises and staff/guests are considerate of the peaceful atmosphere). Extremely clean, pool was relaxing and refreshing. The grounds was like walking amongst a museum with lighting at night. We had a suite for 4 of us - two master bedrooms joined by a large comfortable living room and a private covered deck where we spent much time reading, sleeping, catching up on our jet lagged bodies. The location is at the heart of many temples and in old city, foot rubs, places to eat, and a wonderful laundry lady across the street who had our clothes cleaner than we've ever had them in 24 hours. The restaurant was elegant, quiet, dinner was accompanied by local live music which was just the right volume. When we return, we will stay here again.

The rooms are really beautiful and clean. We were showed to our room upon arrival and were welcomed with champagne and fruits in the room. Drinks in the fridge and snacks were complimentary and they had bathtub in the balcony. There may be bugs at night so do remember to close the balcony door. Public pool is small but nice, not much guests using it. The breakfast is so awesome with exquisite plating and good service, not to be missed. For afternoon tea, we only managed to try it on the first day as we were out the next few days. We were also gifted sandwiches when we were leaving, not to mention it was so nice. Will definitely visit again when I go Chiangmai.

There are two buildings in the villa. On the second floor of the main building are two double-bed rooms and one standard room. Downstairs is the living room, kitchen, dining room and bathroom. The second floor of another building has two rooms, one is a suite, and the other has three beds. The whole villa is very large and can accommodate many people. For breakfast, we bought the ingredients ourselves and ate it in the garden. The villa also provided milk juice and various spices. The butler was also very caring. We also booked a BBQ the next day, one thousand baht per person. It was very hearty and tasted great. This stay was really great.

I arrived to the hotel and on the outside it looked really nice, and the staff was very nice. The girl who checked me in thow wasn't that great to understand english, so I was lucky to speak some thai. The didn't help you with your bags up to the room, but I didn't mind because I travel with good working bags that has wheels. When I came in the room the first thing that hit me was a bad smell from the toilet. (I was given a room on the top floor 608 to be precise. The size of the room was ok, but the furniture I could see how dirty and worn down rhey where. It looked like something the bought on a fleemarket. Further on I tried the bed it was the worst matress I have ever slept on, not only that the hotel is next to a road and at night it was so noicy from traffic so I didn't get much sleep. Sometimes I woke up and thought I had a motorbike in my room. I had booked a stay for 5 nights, but after 1 night I decided to move. So after one more painful night I checked out from this hotel and will NEVER return again.

Stopped here a few times, mainly because my Thai in-laws love the place, only because it is so close to the airport. Every visit something was wrong!! Not exactly the cheapest accommodation either.The toilet would not flush in one room, the taps at the bathroom sink turned with the handles in another room. We could not sleep because of the road noise (we were on the 5th floor!) in another room. The wi-fi was non-existent in one room.There was no hot water in another room. Every room the shower trays filled up with soapy water and was very slippery; dangerous in fact. The breakfast was OK for me, nothing flash. Toast, jam, juice, tea, coffee, milo, all the basics. Not real sure why people were climbing through the window to get here though. One lady I saw scraped all the brown off her toast, so that is was just white!!?? (Something to do with Thais believing that toast causes cancer I was told). Loved the sign beside the toaster that actually worked (the other one was broken on every visit and was just sitting there collecting dust). No cancer from that one! Words to this effect: ”Please do not put butter and jam on bread before placing in toaster.” At least the beer from reception 'fridge was cheaper than most shops. Nice and cold too. Gotta love it!

I guess that is the reason why the hotel is not fully occupied and in many occasions you have the entire pool and kitchen to yourself which is wonderful! The kitchen offers a few options for cooked rice and eggs. The freshly cooked fried rice and fried rice noodles are really delicious.. But the kitchen staff are not very fluent in English so they may misunderstood your orders. You need to repeat your order a few times to make it clear to them..Overall, we enjoyed the quiet and beautiful ambiance and nice breakfast served in this hotel.

Beautiful room, nice new stylish furnishings. 4. Lots of hot water and ice-cold air con. 5. Friendly, accommodating staff. Cons: 1. For some reason, no one has heard of this hotel! They either recently changed the name, or else it’s new. But no worries, just say “3 Kings Monument” and you’ll be within a 1/2 block of the hotel. 2. They tell you to put toilet paper in a little trash can, don’t flush anything except -ahem- down the toilet, common in Third World countries, but I’ve NEVER seen a hotel require this. It’s mildly gross esp. on weekends when they don’t clean the rooms! You have to sign a form when you check in that says you will be charged something like $300 if you flush TP etc. down the toilet. There were a couple of times I forgot and had to fish TP out of the toilet. Ewww. 3. The service is friendly but uneven. I ordered a croissant with breakfast but then had to ask for butter and jam. My room was cleaned and restocked with bath gel, lotion, conditioner but no shampoo; had to call to get more. Every day, something was missing from the clean towel set, either hand towels or wash cloths. Had to call. 4. All I ate there was breakfast which was unremarkable, esp. with all the fabulous food right out the door. The Sunday night khon show didn’t happen. 5. On checkout, they would only take cash for my incidentals though I was required to give a credit card when I checked in. I had very little baht left as I was leaving Thailand and a taxi was in its way to pick me up (no time to run out & change money). Luckily, some kind German guy overheard and changed some dollars for me on the spot so I could pay my bill. 6. Some of the staff spoke extremely little or no English and had to get someone else to talk to me. This is really not acceptable in a tourist hotel and was frustrating for all of us. Despite the cons- Would I stay here again? Would I recommend this hotel? YES!!!

The female room I booked had no windows and was a bit depressing. The mixed room was much better. The next time I definitely decided to set up a mixed room, the overall feeling was very good. The public area was large and comfortable. It was suitable for chatting and meeting new people. The front desk is also very friendly and offers a lot of good advice.

We looked at google maps and tried all of the places closest. No vacancies. We found this budget hotel that had ONE room left! It is in walking distance to Three Kings Monument, Phra Singh, and other Old City venues, massage spas, etc. Estia has a cottage feeling, like a hotel in rural Europe with Thai surroundings. Everything was clean, large bathroom, hot water, the usual soaps and shampoos. bring your own conditioner and shavers. We always bring our own just in case, but sometimes these budget hotels will give you them if you ask. The wifi was strong. The TV had the usual Thai channels with a few in English. The gardens were sweet with lots of flowers. The pool is clean and more lounge chairs than at some luxury hotels! The indoor dining area is large for groups and you can sit outside but it might not be convenient for toasting bread etc. We only ate breakfast, and, at 149 baht, it was very reasonable. A water jug and clean glasses, an automated americano and espresso machine, fresh milk and cream, cereals including muesli etc. White and whole wheat bread. You choose from menu pancakes or eggs of different cooking methods. Two eggs. You get a small plate of two types of fruit. If you calculate the cost of coffee, this 149 baht price is very fair. A suggestion for certain travelers: you could stay at a luxury resort a day or more for the experience then switch to Estia for the rest of the week unless you are very picky, because if you are a tourist out all day then this is just a place to sleep. We live in Chiang Mai as retirees. Staying in Estia brought me back to my youth traveling around Europe! At $27 a night, Estia may surprise you. Very nice hotel in the old city of Chiang Mai. Very friendly staff, nice rooms with good size bathroom. Many attractions in the centre within walking distance. After a few days breakfast becomes a little boring. Value for money We had some issue on the first night with a bad smell in the bathroom but this was quickly resolved by moving us to another room. Well done. Great customer service.
