Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel Huay Kaew

The room was spacious, but the hotel is quite old. They don't provide toothbrushes or slippers. On the plus side, the location is great – right in the city center with a 7-Eleven across the street, and it's easy to get a ride to many attractions.

Absolutely loved my stay at the Orchid Hotel! The whole experience was fantastic, and I especially recommend the swimming pool to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. I'll definitely be bringing my whole family back to the Orchid Hotel on our next trip to Chiang Mai.

The hotel was very nice, it had a rather large and deep pool with good views. In the evenings, they had karaoke and played the piano by the entrance. The gym was also very good, and the location was perfect.

This vintage hotel boasts a long history, having hosted famous personalities. The bed was a bit on the firm side. Breakfast was better than average. The toilet in the bathroom had a slow flush, requiring a long press. The shower was a wall-mounted type, and there was a bathtub.

Absolutely stunning! The hotel lobby is gorgeous and the front desk staff were lovely. Our room was spotless, tidy, and very comfortable, with plenty of tables and chairs for our belongings and for dining. Plus, it was right by the pool, which was a huge bonus!

Absolutely love the pool here – it's huge and rarely crowded! This is my third time staying at this hotel, and the front desk staff are always so friendly and welcoming. The location is also really convenient and peaceful. Definitely deserves a good review!

This hotel is located about 200-300 meters west of the main street in Chiang Mai's Old City, with a 7-Eleven right across the street, making shopping quite convenient. It's an older hotel, likely built at least 20-30 years ago, and probably was a top-tier hotel in Chiang Mai back in its day. The lobby on the ground floor is spacious and elegant, with a grand feel, and even displays photos of many celebrities who've stayed there. The rooms are a generous 30 square meters and have new air conditioning. The bed's firmness was just right, but the pillows were a bit too high and firm. The linens were average, with some showing stains. There's a mini-fridge and a safe, but other facilities are quite dated. The lobby bar was closed. Overall, it offers good value for money, especially for the price point of just over a hundred yuan.

This is, so far, the worst hotel I've stayed at during all my visits to Chiang Mai. You absolutely cannot check in before 2 PM, not even 15 minutes early. Then, when I asked about check-out, the staff said it was at 1 PM, so I planned to wake up at 12 PM to get ready and leave. However, five minutes before 12 PM, they called to say we had to be out by 12:15 PM, forcing us to rush out in just 15 minutes. The air conditioning in the first room ran for 6 hours but felt like it wasn't on at all. When we switched rooms, there were only two power outlets, both very far apart. Ants were everywhere – on the dining table, vanity, bedside, and even the sink in both rooms. The soundproofing is terrible; you can clearly hear people walking by in the hallway and the next room. The shower/bathtub is a stand-up shower, not suitable for soaking. The water pressure is very low, and the showerhead is fixed and cannot be extended. On the bright side, the room didn't have any strange odors, and the staff's attitude was satisfactory. You have to request toothbrushes from the front desk. If you need an extra room key, there's a 300 THB deposit. For the pool, each room only gets two towels per day, and they were all torn and ragged. I definitely won't be staying here again, though I do admit the price was relatively cheap, as I visited around Songkran when other places were more expensive.
