Location is quite good as it is within walking distance of local mass transit systems, shopping, eateries, and attractions. The location is also close enough to Grant Park that you could start a run and make it to the park very quickly to continue on for a few miles. Even based on location alone, I would return to this hotel. As others had mentioned, there is a refillable water bottle station by the elevators (empty bottles also provided), which is a great feature. The elevator had a weird quirk where it would overshoot the desired floor when going up (remedy the situation by pressing the button again to send the elevator down to the desired floor). If you do some research into the hotel and its reviews prior to booking there shouldn't really be any surprises. I went into the stay having some idea of what to expect and that helped me enjoy my stay. There is no mini-fridge in the standard room, which is also on the small side but perfectly fine if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the hotel. The only seating in the hotel room was the desk chair. Some of the furnishings could use updating but the bed felt itself was great and the room was clean. I couldn't find any in-room controls for the temperature, but I did not have a problem with this; it's just something to be aware of. The bathroom was clean and utilitarian but towels and toiletries were provided. Updated charging station/hub/clock (both USB A and USB C) for both the desk and the nightstand would go a long way. This hotel is one tenant of a building that was built in the early 1900s. If you've ever lived in a building from around that time, you get used to some things being a little bit older and quirky. Since my priorities were having a great location for a reasonable price (compared to the nearby competition) that was also clean, accessible by mass transit, and had access to an eatery, this was a good stay for me.

1. Didn’t asked for accesible room, but that’s what I got. 2. AC/heating system had a weird noise all night, you can’t turn it on because literally you won’t sleep. 3. Shower had someone’s else hairs in the shower wall, gross. - Hotel Manager: if you do not trust the team and their responsibilities, then you will have to do the rounds yourself to ensure your hotel is operating properly in all aspects. - Housekeeping manager: If you do not trust your people, you will have to do the rounds yourself. -If you still do your rounds but you don’t inspect the rooms properly, then you shouldn’t be in that position. Room fridge isn’t working in the rooms (front desk mentioned) so they ask you if you need one to ask front desk but they are charging for it, so who’s fault is it? client or hotel? don’t charge for something you need to repair REGARDLESS. Make no sense for customer service. Also, if you guys are having a group of “young teen/just turn 21” people, why would you put someone on the accesible room by their room? If someone requires an accesible room, in this case I didn’t required one, got assigned one, but imagine an elder person by their room. These “kids” were loud as heck until 4AM, fighting, arguing, drunk, crying, overall it was a nightmare. Normally I have a good experience with Sheratons, but this one is overrated. I chose this hotel because last minute the company I work for had a meeting suggesting to find different hotels that may give us a group rate for the upcoming visits we will have to do in Chicago, but there’s no way I will suggest my coworkers to stay at this hotel with a first time bad experience. Not sure if I would give it a second try. Can’t risk it.

Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Central Loop

I stayed here for one night using 50,000 H Honors rewards and loved it. Check in was fast and friendly. Wifi is fast and reliable. Be sure to push hard on the door to open your room since it's a new door it's still kinda stiff no big deal but I figured it out! Also when getting on the right elevator make sure you use the right one since they share this property with another Hilton brand hotel here. Angela the manager was nice enough to send me a text to ask if everything was ok! That is service above and beyond what is expected! Kudos to her great customer service! The King deluxe city view room was huge! it felt like more like being in an apartment. Microwave and fridge were very convenient. The bed and pillows were super soft. The area is kind of quiet at night since it's a business district but the good thing about that is that it's quiet at night and right next door to the Willis Tower aka ”Sears Tower!” I highly recommend a visit up to the 360 observation deck. The closest restaurant that was open past 6pm was Giordanos. I had the Italian beef sandwich add cheese and it was amazing! It's right across the street. The orange line is only 1 block away right across from Giordanos and it takes you to Midway Airport in less than 30 minutes. If I am in this part of Chicago again I would definitely stay here! Thanks and keep up the good work!

The small fridge in the room automatically shuts off after 2 hrs and doesn't stay at a safe temperature to store breast milk. The front desk advised to just use an ice bucket. This is problematic because (1) you will have to continually refill the ice bucket and (2) there is limited capacity. After an escalation to the manager, they offered to hold my milk behind the front desk in their fridge. I am not comfortable with that ”solution” nor do I want to go back and forth to the front desk for my baby's bottles and milk storage. He advised they previously provided medical fridges but they currently do not do so. I am so beyond disappointed. I expected so much more from this brand and now have to figure out something to do with my milk for my exclusively breast fed baby. Ugh, don't they have mother's stay at this property!? Marriott, do better!
Kimpton Gray Hotel

This was our first visit to Kimpton Gray in Chicago, IL. My husband & I stayed for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) & used 76k IHG rewards points (the price later went up to 122k, so book early!). ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: We arrived before check-in, but thankfully our room type was available. ROOM: Prior to arrival, I called & emailed the hotel to request early check-in, a quiet room on an upper floor & possible room upgrade. Thanks to my Diamond Elite status, they placed us in a 1 King Premium Deep Soaking Tub. Unfortunately, they could not accomodate the high floor request, so we were assigned room #601. I appreciated the welcome amenity of Acqua Panna Natural Spring Waters & dark chocolate w/ sea salt. • Amenities: Coffee maker & mini refrigerator. You can request a microwave be delivered to your room free of charge. • Bath: Plenty of hot water & decent pressure. The soaking tub is divine! • Bed: Bed & pillows both very comfortable • Cleanliness: So so. I called housekeeping upon arrival to request the team vacuum our room & wipe down surfaces. I also requested a freshen up the next day. Both were taken care of! • Decor: Average. A bit tattered around some edges (see photo of mini fridge). I did like the accent wall behind the tub though. • Heating/cooling: Worked well • Sound: Mostly quiet. The hotel does appear to host a lot of events, so there were a few loud guests walking the halls late at night. • TV: Average; no movie channels that I recall • View: A building & street • WiFi: Worked well DRINKS/FOOD: • No free breakfast offered • Boleo was closed both evenings for private events, so we could not check-out or enjoy the rooftop bar. We tried to use our $20 raid-the-bar credit at Vol. 39 on Saturday at 8:30 PM, but the bar was also closed. Thankfully, a front desk rep allowed us to grab $20 worth of snacks. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Good. We especially loved being able to contact the team via text! Super convenient. LOCATION/PARKING: Prime location. Parking not needed. OTHER: • Note: You can not use the Kimpton $30 spa credit as the hotel contracts out their spa services. • No pool Would I recommend/stay again? Not likely for full price if paying cash* (vs points). *Rates in October for this room seem to run $467.31 - $556.54/night on a Friday & Saturday. Although location is central, customer service is good & bed soft, the hotel is lacking in 4-star amenities, particularly for a Kimpton property.

Excellent. The hotel was clean and the staff went beyond for us. Unfortunately, my wife fell in the street about a block away from the hotel. One of the staff saw her fall. Came to help immediately, got us transportation to the hospital, let us keep our room well into the afternoon until my wife was taken care of Could not have been more wonderful. And other than that, the stay was excellent the the hotel was all we could ask for. Charming. Highly recommend it.
Le Meridien Essex Chicago

While attending a conference I was worried because there were no rooms at the conference location. I found Le Meridian Essex and booked my week there. I must say everything was phenomenal from the time I walked in and throughout my stay. Hotel staff were kind and more than willing to help. Taniya, Natasha and Jazzlynn at the front desk were always patient and friendly. Concierge was helpful and welcoming. The hotel provided a good voucher each day for the Grant Park Bistro where again the staff and quality were definitely 5 star! As for my room, it was clean and had many little amenities to make my stay comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for everything I have mentioned above as well as its beautiful convenient location.
The Congress Plaza Hotel & Convention Center

The hotel is in a great location! Close to main attractions and lots of restaurants! Main staff was not very friendly. Hotel is beautiful when you enter. Rooms are very old and need updating. The toilet in my bathroom had a corroded tank and a broken lever. That was a bit frustrating. Bed was very hard!! Room was very cold! Only one thermostat for the entire hotel. There is no individual thermostat in each room. Had to ask for extra blankets. They did provide that for me. The fitness room is very nice! Every thing you need to have a really good workout! They indicated they are in the process of renovating rooms. They’ve just not completed that project yet. I would stay there again if the price was right. Hopefully next time I’ll get an updated room!
