Banyan Tree Chongqing Beibei

Overall a great place. Beautiful rooms of the highest quality in every regard. The best features are the hot spring pools in the rooms of course. The showers are also great( two in every shower room) Great quality TV with great sound. Good selection of movies( not the latest releases) but all free. Food at the hotell restaurants had good standard. The best we have experienced in China. But for double the price we would pay for the same quality Chinese food in Norway. Surprisingly! But keep clear of the pizza. It is actually just a frozen pizza type. Very small. We didn’t order any more western dishes after that, except for the Cesar’s salad. Which was good. The place is old now and a bit worn. But it’s still is very very beautiful and high quality. Where this hotell really shines is the services of the staff. Even if they don’t speak English and we don’t speak Chinese they are very patient. To a Norwegian it is almost too much. They carry your bags even when thy are too heavie and many for one person. They drive you you to and from your room if you have a villa. We got an upgrade from ordinary room with hot spring pool and double bed to a villa! Because we found 6 small worms in the shower room. I think this is pretty hard to avoid in such a sub tropical and humid environment. But we reported it to the staff and they immediately gave us an upgrade with a complementary big fruit basket. We were blown away by this huge upgrade. Only thing that was a bit negative and unexpected is the extra deposit fee which is quite high. I think this should have been more clearly informed in the hotell booking and hotell online page. We were a bit low on funds as Banyan tree was our last hotell stay in China before leaving and we were on a planned but tight budget. We solved it of course with our Mastercard but it caused a bit stress for us. And a second thing is that using Alipay instead of WeChat is more difficult at the hotell. ( not impossible)But without Chinese phone number you can’t use WeChat.

This hotel is absolutely amazing, and I would love to come back again. The service provided by Zoe was truly outstanding—thanks to her, my trip was so much more enjoyable. I’m very grateful for her warm hospitality. If you’re visiting Chongqing, I highly recommend staying at Banyan Tree!

Enjoyed our lovely stay. We booked the double pool villa and loved it. The indoor bathtub was nice and spacious and the outdoor private hot spring was fantastic. Breakfast was also excellent, the spread was vast and the made to order Chongqing noodles delicious. Zoe looked after us during our stay and provided excellent service at all hours and made our stay enjoyable. Thank you again for the lovely stay.

The place is very beautiful and the surrounding park is very well maintained. We booked a simple double room and got upgraded to a room with hot spring pool on the terrace which safed our experience. Overall it was quite stressful because we got interrupted every hour with some requests, communication was very difficult (we speak no Chinese) and we would not understand how to use the services that were included in our booking, were not informed that the restaurant would close early and had a ton of little problems to solve with the technical equipment (WiFi, TV, how to switch off the pool). Frankly, at one point we felt like part of the staff we had not one undisturbed hour to simply enjoy. Furthermore there was construction work going on and we were not previously informed. Had we known, we would have stayed at another hotel. I did not like the cancellation policy as they did not offer refund from the second we booked. Payment was a hassle with Alipay, Weixin Pay and International Mastercard. The food was amazing and the staff did their best to make our experience better. They even assisted us to order food via delivery as the place is a bit remote. Maybe it’s all a bit smoother during higher seasons and with a Chinese Bank Card and Chinese language skills. I’d recommend to stay near the natural hot springs in a simpler hotel for 10x less money and hassle.

Hotel is 1 hour drive from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport & the city. There is no amenities nearby which you can just walk around without a car. It's a quiet & tranquil resort which we enjoyed the hot spring tub inside the room. Low season with only 20 rooms occupied, therefore only 1/3 restaurants opens for lunch & dinner. It's a place to distress & relax, away from the buzziling city.
