We stayed at The Water Rat for 2 nights, stopping in Bedroom 3. The photos of the bathroom that we had seen prior to booking on the website suggested that we would be stopping in a newly renovated room. However, whilst the bedroom was generally acceptable, the bathroom left much to be desired. The cabinet under the sink had had the doors ripped off and not refitted, so this was open and it was clear that the unit was old, tired and needed completely replacing. The bath side had several breaks and cracks in it and the decor was badly in need of properly redecorating. Just as disappointingly, the bathroom door, when shut was absolutely filthy and clearly had not been wiped for some time! Certainly well before we had arrived for our stay. This extended to the skirting boards and the bottom of the radiator, making it feel an uncomfortable stay! To balance this review, all the staff were excellent, very friendly and were disappointed that they could not do more, having received our feedback about the condition of the bathroom. The breakfast was good though, as was the evening meal we had in the pub.
