I needed to wait about 10 hours before my flight, so I decided to check into a budget hotel for the time being and get some sleep. The price list for a room with air conditioning for 12 hours was 4,700, but for some reason they asked me to pay 4,000 up front. When we went upstairs and were shown the room, they recalculated and said there were two more. I didn't have the price list handy, so I agreed and paid. The prices are in Sri Lankan rupees. About an hour later, I got hot and couldn't find the remote control for the air conditioning. I went down and said I couldn't find it. I checked the price list; I was supposed to pay 4,700, but I don't understand why they charged 6. They asked me to pay another thousand for the remote control. I told him a room with air conditioning costs 4,700, and I already paid 6! But he shook his head and said 6, 4. Basically, within an hour, he completely forgot that I paid 6. He still didn't give me the remote, he just shook his head like oh-oh-oh, how could this be?
