What a unique experience,1.5 hours by boat to get here, completely tranquil. Our guide ,Alex, was knowledgeable and helpful. Rooms lovely and spacious, surrounded by thick rainforest with beautiful scenery and wildlife

Great hotel, need to get there by boat. Lovely grounds and very close to the ocean. Good breakfast. Rooms a little basic but clean. Only noise was the birds in the morning. Plenty of sun loungers and towels at the pool. Friendly staff.

Lovely hotel, beautiful gardens and pool. Rooms very clean if a little dark. Food was good and lots for us to see in the 2 days we spent here.

Outstanding place. Good food, comfortable rooms within a genuinely delightful setting. A beach to walk to, a laguna to enjoy boat trips through. Most of all Sebastian, quite simply the best tour guide I've come across. Very enjoyable, even with rain and thunder!

This was by far and away the worst place we stayed in our Central America tour. Transfers to and from here were a complete chaos. A small bus picked us up from our hotel in San Jose but we were then left waiting on the side of the road for 40 minutes waiting for a larger coach to arrive and collect us. Due to the heavy rain, the boat dock at Pavona was a quagmire through which we had to carry our own cases to the boat. We eventually arrived at Laguna lodge at 3:30 pm for lunch. Whilst we fully accept the rains had caused road problems which contributed to this, there should be a contingency plan for lunch arrangements. Laguna Lodge rooms are in very basic rows of wooden structures with no windows and no soundproofing. As a result everything was constantly damp and very noisy from other guests. Food in the restaurant (with the exception of the lunchtime salad bar) was very poor with hot food usually cold. All this totally outweighed the facts that the grounds were very nice and it was located on the ocean side of the river. The exception to this criticism was Wally who was brilliant guide and went above and beyond to sort out our transport chaos.

The weather was heavy rain so our experience was dampened. The gardens were lovely. The rooms very clean. Needed hooks in the room for wet clothing to drip. The pool would have been nice . Food good

We loved Laguna Lodge. The river boat to get there was fun with the kids (although I'm glad we didn't have too much luggage as that was an interesting juggle) and the grounds of the lodge were gorgeous. Food was fresh and varied, and the tours we did that were included were also good. Our host, Juan, was incredibly accommodating and so friendly. The kids loved the pool. The rooms were a little on the small side for 4 people, but it's something you can cope with for the location, friendliness of the staff and amazing amount of wildlife.

We stayed two nights. The howlers monkeys will wake you up like an alarm clock . It does not have AC but it cools off at night. The rooms are basic and rustic. It does have a ceiling fan. You really feel like you are in the rainforest. The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent with a lot of choices. WiFi can be a bit spotty .

My wife Fiona and I stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our 2 week holiday crossing Costa Rica and what a beautiful introduction to the country, the people and thd animals it was. The apartment was clean and safe, the site itself is a tropical paradise and the food was excellent. We did a couple of tours, one on the canals and the other up the hill both superb. We saw Cayman, Crocodile, Toucans, Howler Monkeys and Iguana plus many other amazing creatures. The staff are friendly and it is very well run. The atmosphere of the place is very relaxed with a general feeling of excitement and wonder around the place. Magical.
