Hampton Inn Columbia

The room had a VERY strong cigarette smell--I had to run the air non stop just to filter it out. The curtains do not shut all the way, so light shines right in your face, and to make it even worse the closet doors are right across from the window and have mirrors on them. Underneath the bed (within standing view), I found a ********* joint butt so the cleaning crew is definitely taking shortcuts. The bathroom had paint peeling off the ceiling and no exhaust fan so I had to shower with the door wide open to use the mirror, and still had to wipe it with a towel. The carpet had big white stains in a few places and the door had some kind of residue--it looked like it had something dripping all over the top of it at one point. The front desk is NOT staffed 24 hours, but they keep the front door locked at night, and have a paper sign with handwritten message ”Please ring bell”. When it is staffed, the card reader is disabled and you have to ring the doorbell and wait for someone to open the front door. If it is not staffed, THEN you can use your room card and no one will answer the doorbell, which they never tell you. When I checked out and returned my room key, all I got was an ”OK, thank you”, and the cashier (Cashier ID: OJackson12) did not proceed to check me out at the register until I called back during my plane boarding and reminded her (she also took this opportunity to rudely remind me ”yeah, that was me”). THEN she sent me the email receipt. My receipt shows my checkout time as the time of that phone call--about 12:30, an hour and a half late checkout time when in reality I returned my room key at around 10:15.

Great, super clean rooms. Located conveniently in a walking distance to a number of restaurants, shops and Toby's Dinner Theatre (2 miles down the road) where we saw a beautiful performance . Lovely, courteous staff at the front desk and at the breakfast. Hot breakfast in the morning. Sadly, guests are leaving trash in front of the hotel on a bench without cleaning after themselves. Thank you, Team Hampton Inn and Suites, for your hospitality!

I stayed here 1 night and was overall very happy with my stay. I felt like I was at a ”real” hotel, not the shabby, overused Hampton Inns I had been staying at on my drives from NYC to Florida and back. The staff was welcoming and professional and my room was a delight--clean, lovely towels, dual lighting for the beds (dim & regular), hot water than was hot immediately, and a very comfortable king bed. The TV had really good channels, including some premium ones. The waitress in the restaurant served me a late dinner graciously. The buffet breakfast is overpriced, but you get more for that price than you do at Hilton Garden Inns and the staff did a very good job of refilling the serving pans as they were emptied by the kids. I did had some issues, thus the 4 stars. Most of the people staying at the hotel appeared to be families traveling with children going to sports meets. There should be some way of keeping a part of the hotel for adults only, so you don't hear girls screaming down the corridor at 12:30am (and yes, they did wake me up). One elevator was broken, incurring long waits, and I see from other reviews that this is a continuing problem. Also, the toilet paper needs to be upgraded!

I had a very nice staycation during my home renovations. The hotel is close to restaurants and shopping centers. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

A very good one for an economic hotel; a good place for an extended stay, although I did not use kitchen provided. It is convenient enough if you have a car.
