Absolutely stunning view. Cabin was older but very charming, we made the most of the fireplace in the room and enjoyed a view of the lake from our balcony. Bathroom was clean with everything we needed. Coffee also provided in the room which was nice. I read the beds were uncomfortable on other reviews and I’d partially agree - not the best but again not the main reason or expectation for visiting emerald lake. I will say the pillows were extremely thin and uncomfortable.  Staff were very friendly and attentive. Shuttle service was easy. Restaurant was pricey but overall good. No wifi or signal in the room is something to be aware of, but heightened the experience in my opinion. Overall, great!

The cabin was pretty good overall. Just something to keep in mind, if you're staying in a duplex, you'll want to pay attention to whether you get the top or bottom unit. This time we were in the bottom unit and it was a bit noisy; you could hear the sounds from upstairs. The bathtub was also a little worn and it was the only shower option. Aside from that, everything else was quite nice.

Terrible experience with pretentious staff and lack of amenities. We booked two separate beds as we are used to sleeping in separate rooms. We also booked with my son and daughter-in-law. However, not only were we given one big bed rather than two separate beds, we were placed in a room 20 minutes walk away from my family. The front desk receptionists were unkind and unprofessional. They gave the group ahead of us two rooms that were close to each other when requested, but somehow we were not given this. This biased treatment ruined any semblance of goodwill of this hotel, and ruined our evening. The room carpet was dirty and hadn't been washed in a while. The blanket smelled, and there was no ventilation in the room without the porch door open. The bathtub is slippery and the edges are too high, with no non-slip mats provided.

Having 33 years of experience and two family weddings at Emerald lake makes this a very special place for us. From the 5 km walk around the lake accessible  year-round, secret ponds and brilliant vistas, to gaping at the great Burgess Mountain, Wapta and Emerald Peak crowned within the Presidential range, one is left with a distinct sense of awe. Even the bright colored summer canoes inspire joy. The food is second to none in the Lodge restaurant, truly cuisine not to be missed, and a game of billiards upstairs or settling down before one’s own crackling fireplace is the perfect sigh at days end. The only break in perfection we found was that the newly renovated room we paid an upgrade fee to stay in was a disappointment as a poorly-manicured renovation; with tiles not fitting quote right together with gaps in odd corners, shower not quite right, and the bathroom door altogether too large for the space. While paying for the upgrade may not be worth your while, Emerald Lake is.

Overpriced, Isolated, and Emotionally Draining I booked Emerald Lake Lodge expecting a peaceful retreat, but it turned out to be the most disappointing stay of my Rockies trip. First, the logistics: there is no Wi-Fi or phone signal in the rooms, which might sound romantic until you realize you can’t contact loved ones or access essential information. Parking is far from the rooms, and guests must take a shuttle bus, which runs on the staff’s schedule, not yours. When I asked for help with my heavy luggage, I was simply told to walk uphill alone—no assistance, no directions, no hospitality. The room was cold, humid, and outdated. There was a fireplace, but no guidance on how to use it safely. I couldn’t sleep and felt completely isolated. Worst of all, I felt quietly judged and dismissed, as if not being familiar with their “rustic” system made me an unwelcome outsider. This place might suit those already in-the-know or traveling ultra-light, but for solo travelers or anyone expecting genuine service, it may feel more punishing than peaceful.
